Marta Lois will be the Sumar candidate in the upcoming Galician elections. Lois is a political scientist born in Vigo, professor in Santiago University (she was a Santiago councilor as well) and MP for A Coruña since the last general elections. She's very close to Deputy PM Yolanda Díaz,  who appointed her spokeswoman in Congress despite lacking experience in national politics. Marta Lois has a difficult task as a regional candidate, for Sumar is a political movement without membership nor organizational structure. Additionally Podemos is likely to run in its own and the Galician nationalist party Anova rejected an alliance  (Yolanda Díaz and Xosé Manuel Beiras parted ways years ago). Winning a seat or two in A Coruña or Pontevedra would be a huge success for Sumar
Sumar announced later today that IU and Podemos agreed to a joint list (surprisingly).

To be precise: Yolanda Díaz announced a "preliminary agreement" between Sumar,  Podemos and IU. Hope they'll resch a final agreement soon and avoid the terrible disaster they created in Andalusia

Pablo Iglesias on his blog called for Podemos to instead not run and to just vote for the BNG. Fairly selfish reasoning but it does seem like the most strategic thing to do.

What's the reason for the CUP's decline?
