Rochester and Buffalo are 2 of my top 3. Makes sense since I say both "pop" and "sneakers". I don't sound like people from here though.

Why is far Western New York so similar?

I don't know. Upstate New York is not super northeastern though.

Western New York is very Midwestern in speech, other than a few words like "sneakers".
