Weiner?  He'd be a possibility of course but I think it's clear that his dream job is NYC mayor and little can stop him from trying to win that in 2009.  I don't know if he wants to be a senator.

She's pushing 70 years old.  The nice part about Weiner is that he could conceivably hold the seat for decades with no issues (he's ~40).  But of course he doesn't want it.  Perhaps Spitzer would just go with a placeholder such as Lowey or Mark Green and let the voters decide in a special election come 2010.  (But how would that work, exactly, with another election in 2012?  Perhaps it'd just make sense to let the placeholder hold the seat through Jan 2013.)
