Bushie, have you bought any food/cooking supplies in preparation for your first use of either your oven or stove at your apartment?

I've got plenty of food in the freezer that I could and probably should put in the oven.  It's just so much more convenient and faster to put them in the microwave.

OK, let me rephrase.  Do you have any intention of cooking anything that does not simply involve heating it up in the microwave?  I won't pester you about it if you say no, I'm just curious.

Bushie please don't quit your CAD job to go to Kenya.

Damn it why did you have to give him an idea. Truth be told this seems to be going well but I feel he'll quit to focus on Kenya.

I am not going to quit to go to Kenya.  Don't worry about that.  I'm not even going there at all in 2015.  Taking a 2-week vacation to go 19 months from now is not the same as quitting my job to go.  I'm being smart with this job.

But you still might move to Kenya eventually?  I mean, back in January, you said that one benefit from breaking up with Allison (during your brief hiatus) was that the Kenyan dream would live on.

I'm thinking it may not be feasible to move there permanently, however, if I can get enough credibility and tenure at my place of employment, I would like to try to take the summer off and spend 2 months there, but that may not be until 2016 at the earliest, maybe 2017.  For the next several years I want to focus on building this American career and getting out of debt so that if God does open the door to whatever type of missionary work, I can be debt free and available.

I know of no full-time job (other than perhaps teaching, and even that isn't the same at every school) where you can get enough "tenure" after 2 years to take a summer off work.

The only way he could make it work would be if he fakes a pregnancy and claims maternity leave.

I wonder what he does send to girls...did he ever touch her or was that all off limits?

One of his claimed reasons for the breakup is that she was disappointed that he wasn't more affectionate enough with her.

I couldn't even get Our Dear Friend to watch the sport but I'll still suggest he try to play Soccer. Could you imagine that? Maybe he can play in goal.
Way too much running in soccer. Maybe he could play softball.

Possible.

Update seems to be returning to 2011 levels of tediousness, though that's not a bad thing for Bushie.

And to be fair, Bushie was asked about relaxations.

Ban the member who asked him.

Bushie, forgot to ask earlier in the year, but do you still hold a birthday party in Oklahoma for the Kenyan kids each year?

you know you can't really pretend like you're ignoring a post that says something about you that you don't want to hear when the very fact that you are making this post showing off how you're ignoring it actually means you saw it, read it, thought about, and decided you should make post where you pretend to be ignoring it

No, I don't think that's it.  Bushie didn't read any posts that he's pretending to ignore.  He's simply sleeping.  He's become so enveloped within Update that his current method of sleep involves resting his head on the "z" key.

Now, I urge everyone here to refrain from "shouting" with all caps before morning, or you might wake Bushie up in the middle of the night.

I'm home from the potluck game night.  We had a Mexican potluck and as predicted, I didn't eat a whole lot.  In fact, I am pretty hungry right now, but I'm okay for the night.  We played a couple games as a group and had a great time of fellowship and fun.

What games did you play?

So two pages of Update without Bushie?  What's the longest stretch of Update in which Bushie didn't participate?  Will this one make it to the end and on to part XVII without the lead character?

Has he held this job longer than any other since Oklahoma Natural Gas?

I don't think so.  I'm pretty sure the job he held in Utah lasted for several months.

Oh yeah, what was he doing out there again? Like most Update fans, I blocked most of the Utah story arc from my memory.

Actually, scratch what I said.  That might not have been his longest employment.  His longest might have been Dell, where I believe he had a job throughout much of 2011 (pre-Kenya and pre-Utah).  2011 was probably the most boring year for Update, and it disappeared for a good six months or so from Atlas, when he tried to replace it with a blog.  But during much of that dark era, I think he was working for Dell.

The move to Utah (in late 2012) was prompted by his job at Xerox, but then I think once he got there, it turned out the job was bogus or something, and he got a job doing tech support for national parks….or something like that.  Don't remember the details anymore, but not sure if that one actually lasted as long as the Dell job.

In any case, point is, he's had a few jobs that lasted a few months, so he's not breaking any personal records by being at this new place for just five weeks, or whatever it is.

Can we get back to my question from a few days ago?:

I would say dump the watch, but I know too well any change that involves change is difficult for you so I won't even bother going down that road.

As opposed to change that doesn't involve change?

[See, I'm like Bushie now.  Correcting the mistakes of others.  Where's my $1500?]

I can give you Monopoly money.

I'll take it!

Though I'd prefer $10 for winning second prize in a beauty contest.  Sad

Anyone want to suggest a title for the next season?

"Update XVII: Hereditary clock watching with a Level 8 headache"
"Update XVII: Going all in on the focus part of the ice cream challenge"
"Update XVII: No fun to eat healthy on weekends"
"Update XVII: The fudge is what got me"
"Update XVII: 79 is one point away from a B"
