Update XXIII: It doesn't matter what your questions are.

I guess I was right that it's a good thing we used this one chance to name an Update season "Cleaning up the meat", since the title wouldn't make sense after Bushie leaves the meat job.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that you should feel free to question our employment choices, Bushie. Unlike you, I would wager that most of us have nothing to be ashamed of.

I have nothing to be ashamed of, I'm just tired of putting it on full display for everyone to see and balk at.

Lol then stop updating us maybe?

Seriously considering it.

You always say that.  The pattern is: You criticize people for criticizing your decisions.  People respond: "Lol, if you don't want your decisions scrutinized, don't post every detail of your life.  Why are you updating us if you don't want us talking about it?"  You respond "I'm asking myself that more and more these days."  But then, even if you leave for a short time, you always come back.

If you don't want people here to criticize you for making bad decisions, you have three choices:

1) Don't make bad decisions.
2) Don't post about your life here on this forum.
3) Lie about your life, so that we all believe you're not screwing up, even when you are.

Any of those would work.  For example, on Number 3, you could just keep telling us that you're working at [redacted], even though you're not.  Since you've purged everyone here from FB, no one would know the difference.

Except I don't think he purged everyone from here from his FB. He only purged about half of us. I believe Duke, J-Mann and a few others are still friends with him on there.

I thought Keystone Phil was the only one left.  But whatevs...

Anyway, given that he's obviously technically proficient enough to be hired in IT, he should use FB's privacy options to post things only to select groups of his friends.  He could post according to one reality for those he knows in real life.  And then make posts for another reality for those he knows from the Atlas forum.

Bushie, you're being really rude by bailing on a job so soon like this. Sprouts paid you all that money for training, and they're going to get nothing back now. AT LEAST work the next 2 weeks before you quit and give them some kind of return on their investment. Remember, "2 weeks notice" means NOTHING. They WILL NOT let you keep working another second once you tell them you're quitting, so give your "2 weeks notice" on April 17. If you don't, you're rude. Period.

I don't actually understand this logic.  Staying the extra two weeks would be good for Bushie, because he'd get two weeks of income.  But I don't understand the logic of it being good for Sprouts.

I mean, obviously they would wish that he wouldn't quit the job at all.  But if he's going to be gone in two weeks anyway, wouldn't they rather know that now?  What is gained, from the perspective of Sprouts, in not knowing yet that an employee will be taking up a new job in two weeks?  It seems like they would prefer to find out now, so they can cut him and hire someone new, rather than not find out for another two weeks.  If they wanted him around for the remaining two weeks, then they would have kept him on for those two weeks, rather than fire him on the spot.

This actually seems like a good time for Bushie to move to Kenya.  At least the cost of living there is lower, so he would be accumulating debt at a slower pace.

yeah I'm starting to move into the "close Update and ban Bushie" camp, I really don't see anywhere else to go from here...
I think the more important part is just to ban the Update threads.

That's been tried several times before, but people (including Bushie) just continue talking about the same stuff in different threads, pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable slowly until the FC mods give up and let Update return.

And that was back when we had a rather active FC moderator in Inks.  No offense to the current FC mods, but they're not as quick to respond to reported posts as he was, and aren't patrolling this board as regularly.  And none of them seem to have the desire to moderate this board aggressively enough to keep Update off of it.  I don't really see any way to kill Update for good, other than banning Bushie.

So when do you guys think he'll actually start posting again?

He's presumably already posting on the other forum he talked about.  Atlas Forum is like his internet version of ONG, so I don't know if he'll be coming back.

A lot of forums automatically adjust multiple consecutive spaces to just a single space. That's probably all it is.

In that case, someone who's registered at that forum should try making a multi-space post, to confirm that that's how it works.

It looks like he bumped a thread from 2012 just to write those three sentences.

Doubles spaces do in fact get removed on that forum upon posting. Horrible feature.

oh god, the mystery deepens...

I'll probably have to title the next volume of Update "The Search for Spock Bushie" (assuming there is one).

I think Bushie will return before this season ends, assuming you don't lock it prematurely.  It'll take us a while to get through another 20 pages of a Bushie-less Update.  And by the time we do, Bushie will probably be back.
