Most Labour victories post WWII were achieved even without the Scottish seats

Yep.  They won over 400 seats in both 1997 and 2001, for example, so even if every single Labour seat in Scotland had gone SNP, they'd still have a majority.  Even in 2005, they'd still have enough for a minority government if all of their Scottish voters go SNP.
