Not sure what Nieto was thinking. No way he looks good from this, and he handed Trump a major win on a silver platter.

They both look good and benefit from this. Our countries also benefit. This was a great day for US-Mexico relations.

I don't think you really understand the optics of this event in Mexico.
Yeah trump benefits from this, Nieto might have his approval ratings go into single digits

And a man from Connecticut understands United States-Mexico relations better?

It doesn't take an expert to get why this is not a good look for Nieto. Trump yes though.
He doesn't have to run for reelection so he probably thinks it's better to get on good terms with trump if he wins, that's the only reason I can imagine him doing this

I think he really didn't expect Trump to accept his offer and was caught off guard.
Or that too

The Senators in Mexico are in disbelief that trump is in their country.
Some are speaking out in front of media cameras, and condemning the meeting, and basically calling trump a disgusting human being.
Almost everyone in Mexico wants him to leave immediately.
How can this possibly look good for him ? No politician has been rejected by the Mexican people at this high level, in recent history.

Bush had a less than 5% approval rating in France and the U.K in 2004 didn't hurt him
