why was Tom Corbett so hated?

Corbett was always a snake,and unlike the other Democratic Parties they (the Pennsylvania Dems) said it as it was and defined in the clear.

The others either failed to hit the loud pedal enough and foolishly let themselves be defined (as the blue avvies say it was  for Corbett.) or were already in an uphill battle [as was the case for most of the elections in the South]
