Not as corporatist as Dems make him out to be, but he's a horrible fit for that party.

It's going to be beautiful when Democrats are forced to flock under either him, Harris, or someone else in the identity politics establishment.

Populism isn't all about being folksy, friend.  The Democratic voters are at least as "populist" as Republican ones, and Booker won't stand a chance at the nomination unless he makes the same populist overtures that Hillary was forced to.

Populism isn't all about being folksy, friend.  The Democratic voters are at least as "populist" as Republican ones, and Booker won't stand a chance at the nomination unless he makes the same populist overtures that Hillary was forced to.

The question is, can he seem authentic about it, or will people see through the facade? I think if he tries to sound populist, then he will fail.

I would be inclined to agree, which is why I don't think he has a chance.  Hillary had the advantage of trying to make history as a woman, YEARS of preparing/seeming inevitable and - at least to enough Democratic primary voters - her populism seemed genuine *enough*.  I don't think Booker could pull off the same task.  I think if Biden runs, it's his to lose.  The Democrats tried the "the other guy is insane, vote for us if you have half a brain!" strategy in 2016, and it crashed and burned.  That could have been for a variety of reasons, but the (more) progressive wing of the party is demanding a different way forward, and I believe they'll get at least most of their wish.
