The Netherlands and Switzerland also both have a history of consociational democracy, both have a historical Protestant v Catholic cleavage, and both have a majority language that is effectively a form of German, and very strong Liberal (in the European sense) traditions. So there is more there than initially meets the eye.
I don't think it's particularly strange to compare three relatively small, prosperous Western European states with each other. These three countries don't have too much in common, but as TDAS said, they are not too uncomparable either.
I would, however, dispel the fiction that we have good chocolate.
