Opinion of Leon Trotsky

Offing him was one of the few decent things Stalin ever did.

On a theoretical level, I actually prefer Stalin to Trotsky. Trotsky was basically an anarchist. His criticisms of Stalin weren't that Stalin murdered millions of people, it was that Stalin established a strong state apparatus.

At the time I saw that as the worst offender in the post, I however realized I was wrong once I regained my ability to think properly.

Terrible. All of the Russian leaders were trash after Kerensky until Gorbachev, and those two were only tolerable in comparison.

Defending Kerensky is not a hill you want to die on.

I can't argue with you there, but he was better than Stalin or Trostky, surely? He refused to support the White Army when he easily could have.

Being better than Stalin or Trotsky isn't exactly something that could be described as difficult. Don't also forget that he refused to remove Russia from the war when he easily could have, even the power hungry butcher of the revolution Lenin knew better than that.
