1.She is an elected official so she can't be fired.

2.The judge actually offered her a compromise that her deputies could handle this and 5 of the 6 deputies - all except her son! - agreed they would do it. SHE turned that down.

She has also refused to resign.

She left the judge literally no other choice.

I don't know about jail,  but there are plenty of Republicans who say they'd like to see Obama impeached for not somehow not following the Constitution, maybe she could be impeached, but the Judge can't do that.

It will be interesting to see the number of Republicans who lie that they are 'constitutionalists' who come out in support of her unconstitutional position.

Show me an issue that hasn't had people saying extremist or hateful things and show me where more than an anecdotal number of people switched sides based on that.

I think most people know that gays and gay rights supporters are as varied as any group, and that some hateful comments from some of those people don't reflect the entire group.

Her position is clearly constitutional. Nice try.

I guess you missed the news. The United States Supreme Court disagrees with you.  Actually, they couldn't care less what you say, rightly or wrongly, they and no one else, decide what the Constitution says.

I doubt it. She is in the wrong. I disagree with her going to jail, but she should be fired if she doesn't quit because she is not fully performing her job.

I addressed this above. She can't be fired because she is an elected official. I gather she can be impeached but the judge can't do that.

The judge actually didn't want to jail her. He offered her a compromise of having her deputies handle same sex marriages, and five of her six deputies -all except her son- stated they were willing to hand out marriage licenses to same sex couples.  SHE turned down this compromise.

So, she refuses to quit and she refuses a compromise.  She puts herself above the law she is sworn to uphold by claiming that God's law is above the Constitution.  The judge had literally no other choice but to put her in jail.

Of course, if she could produce a recording of her conversation with God when Gold told her to not hand out marriage licenses to same sex couples, I know I'd repent and I'm sure the judge would as well.

From what I've seen, public opinion locally is almost universally against Kim Davis.

Are you in Louisville?

I'm in northern Kentucky, but a lot of the sites I read are in rural Kentucky.

Oh good, I hope Bevin's embrace of this woman sinks his candidacy.
