Why Glencoe is so liberal I don't really know. Initial inklings would say that it has a Jewish population (like Highland Park) but it isn't so - only 1.2% of the town is Jewish. If anyone knows more about Glencoe than me please tell.
Is that true? Irving Cutler wrote in "The Jews of Chicago: From Shtetl to Suburb" (1995) that "Glencoe, Highland Park, Skokie and Lincolnwood [had been] estimated as close to 50 percent Jewish." If Jews are truly at 1.2% now, that would have been like a Second Exodus... but I doubt this has happened.
