He was so popular; he almost lost to J D Hayworth in 2010.

McCain isnt unbeatable!!!
I thought he won that primary by a 24 point margin? He isn't unbeatable, but I'll be surprised (and sad) if he loses now.

He won the general with a 24 point margin...which was kind of a joke since the Democrats didn't have a serious contender for the seat at all.

Rodney Glassman did quite well in the debate. Also, Kirkpatrick IS a good candidate (still worse than Carmona, though), but she is too liberal for AZ. And keep in mind: This is the state that voted for Jan freaking Brewer by 12 points over a great Democratic candidate.

Kirkpatrick was elected in AZ-1, which is an R+3 district.    She hosts a lot of bipartisan legislation and definitely knows how to win cross over voters.
