I’m not deep into SC politics, but why is McMaster considered a weak candidate? He just took office, so it’s too early make projections on his performance as chief executive. He also has the advantage of the incumbency and served as AG and lt. gov. So he has experience and is well known. According to Wikipedia, a former lieutenant governor has declared a run for the GOP nomination. As of now, the only serious candidate besides McMaster.
