Abortion:
I support a right to make a private decision about the continuance of the pregnancy throughout its gestation. I oppose laws mandating waiting periods, spousal notification, parental consent, parental notification,  misleading presentations, and support federal funding for elective and therapeutic abortions.

Iraq:
I opposed the invasion of Iraq, and have continued my opposition. My primary objection was the effect it had on destabilizing international alliances.

Tax Cuts:
I favor raising the income tax to generate revenue, and support discontinuing income taxation on the poor.

Gun Control:
I support Second Amendment repeal, and subsequent gun control measures.

Education:
I oppose vouchers, support continued busing to end de facto segregation, and favor free, nationalized higher education.

Religion:
I favor a broader interpretation of the establishment clause, which bans school prayer and prayer before school events, disallows public displays of the Ten Commandments and creches, prevents implementation of the Faith Based Initiative, and removes "Under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance.

Homeland Security:
I would help ensure it by promoting goodwill abroad through greater foreign aid spending.

Civil Liberties:
I support continued affirmative action in education, hiring, promotion, and contracting, and support revising civil rights laws to legalize the use of quotas. In addition, I support repeal of the discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

Gay Marriage:
I support nationwide same-sex marriage.

Death Penalty:
I support abolishing capital punishment.

Portugal rejected a referendum which would liberalize the abortion law 49%-51% a few years ago. There have been some prosecutions of nurses who perform abortions, most notably the case of Maria do Ceu Ribeiro, but they have met with much controversy. For example, the Catholic bishop of Oporto has denounced the prosecutions.
