The rapture would, technically, be an extra-terrestrial invasion.

The USA might never end, but I think it might progress towards an authoritarian dictatorship, and thus in a way it would be over as it would no longer be the grand experiment of liberty is was meant to be. You have one party with corporatist right-statism and another one with corporatist left-statism. The only thing the two parties can consistently agree on is that the government should have a large role on our lives and in the Middle East, and that sticking to the constitution is optional, as it's by-definition a set of limitations on the government.

Another option would be some idiot getting elected and blowing up Moscow, leading to retaliation from the Tsar democratically-elected Russian President.
