Anyone have views that they once thought were stupid and ridiculous but now understand or even support?

Not views that you once supported but now realize are stupid... I'm sure we all went through that edgy alt-political-views or atheism phase in high school.

One that immediately springs to mind for me is the Iraq War.  Grew up reading liberal media editorials and watching MSNBC make fun of Bush every night and how the war was fought for oil, for Bush's daddy issues, because Bush was dumb and thought Saddam did 9/11, etc.  Now that I'm older and wiser I think I would have gone into Iraq too.  The risk * probability of Saddam obtaining WMDs and proliferating them to terrorist groups, as he had shown a reckless willingness to do in the past, was just too great at a time when we were very vulnerable to just such a threat.
