He is way better then the boy Castro but the only way Cruz would lose if he is massively damaged in the primary & another Republican runs as an Independent or if Trump tries to incite people against Cruz (which is also possible). Basically you need a faction of the Republican party to screw Cruz like Manchin & others did to Pritt with the "Democrats of Underwood" stuff !

Anyways a 7-8-9% loss is very good & will lay the groundwork for more successes down ballot !

So, 6% odd lead for Ted Cruz in this poll?

Anyways, 200 is nowhere near a sample size to judge & the campaigns haven't really even begun. If Beto can keep Ted to within 5-6%, then Texas can be competitive in 2024 !

I'll look past the fact that he's a New Democrat. He's probably the best hope of the Democrats, plus his position on campaign finance reform is superb. Endorsed.

His opponent is Lyin' Ted. Cory Booker is a 1000 times better candidate than Lyin' Ted & so is the corrupt Menendez or the out of touch Feinstein.

This is Lyin' Ted & for the long term, this is even more important that winning the House in 2018 (Although Lyin' Ted will surely win!)

Maybe O'Rourke could need help from Warren Buffet and George Soros in order to edge Ted Cruz in terms of campaign funding. I don't think it would hurt him since, on the other hand, Cruz would already be endorsed by the Koch Brothers.

Maybe even Mark Cuban's money could be an asset since Cuban is also from Texas and has endorsed Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump.

Lyin' Ted took all the PAC, Super pac & donor money & still raised less than O'Rourke who took 0 Pac, Super-pact money. O'Rourke is drawing huge money from small individual donors & has out-raised Lyin' Ted's big donors.

At this point, Lyin' Ted should go begging to the Mercers for more money so that he can keep up with O'Rourke !

If David Brock isn't the joke person that he is, he will run tremendous negative ads on "Porn loving Family Values Lyin' Ted" & should play Trump's comments in the primary.

Let Beto run a clean campaign & just destroy Lyin' Ted & drive down turnout among his crazy base.

The Republican senator would not say whether he’ll fire the staff aide or deny the aide access to his social media accounts, though he did note that the aide did not act maliciously.

This "Aide did this" sounds like total BS

Beto has probably gone more left than what he was in the primary which is weird. He is running an unapologetic Left Wing Campaign !

Cruz paints him as ‘hard-left like Bernie Sanders’ but the challenger for the Senate seat is drawing crowds in conservative suburbs. About a hundred supporters chewed on brisket and choked on the idea that Texas might elect a man who, Cruz said, is “running hard, hard left like Bernie Sanders”. To isolated gasps, Cruz also floated the idea that O’Rourke is even further left than Sanders or the Massachusetts senator and rumoured 2020 contender Elizabeth Warren: “If you want a big government, gun-grabbing liberal, well, the Democrats are giving you one,” Cruz said. “You cannot find a race in the country with a starker difference”.

He supports immigration reform, universal healthcare, equal rights for LGBT people, tighter environmental regulations and “commonsense” gun laws. In short, the kind of policies that would be mainstream in some other states and many western countries, but which prompt rightwingers to depict him as a deranged socialist who wants to destroy the fabric of Texas. Despite pledging to eschew money from political action committees (Pacs) and rely on small individual donations, O’Rourke raised $10.4m in the second quarter of this year compared with Cruz’s $4.6m.

“It’s a no-brainer. I think Beto is going down. This is Ted Cruz country and it’s constitutional country and it’s Texas,” said Suzette Griffin, a retiree in an “I love Ted Cruz” T-shirt from 2016. “He’s for everything we’re against. He wants to give away the farm. He wants socialism and we don’t,” she said. “I think Ted’ll take him by 10 or 12 points.”

Beto n volunteers have knocked on 223,000 doors in a day. That is Incredible. That is more than what they did in the whole month of September.

The momentunnis certainly with Beto. He will get better than expected turnout as well as a solid performance among Women, Independents, Minorities, Young people.

No one knows if that will be enough to win in 2018. The margin either way could be 1-2-3%.

The question - Is Beto ahead of his time  for Texas Huh

Beto’s concession speech was brutal to watch. Beautiful as always, but absolutely heartbreaking

He was trying hard not to get emotional/not to choke. He ran a phenomenal campaign with a radical, progressive message.

His biggest achievement will be expanding the Dem voters hugely when he got many young & Hispanic voters interested, engaged & got them to vote. Many of them will continue to vote blue. The Dem base has hugely expanded in Texas & with a decent candidate in future, Texas will no longer be double digit wins for the GOP.

In 2024, when Millennial voters overtake Boomers as the largest block, Texas should be a purple state. Beto had a historic campaign & Dems won many House seats because of him. I hope he continues to build an infrastructure in Texas for Democrats. He doesn't need to hold any post, he is the de facto leader for Dems in Texas !

The DNC should be heavily investing heavily in Texas & Florida in voter registration only. Perhaps Georgia as well after the Kemp purge.

All the congressional seats which GOP took in single digits should be contested. Also there is considerable scope in Houston as well !

Beto's campaign has paved the way for Texas to be competitive in 2024 if the DNC & Texas Dem party puts in the effort.
