Terrorist takeover of Federal building in Oregon

For those of us old enough to remember:



Is this what the right-wing militias are hoping for?

Just send in federal officers with handcuffs. If they surrender without a fight, it proves they're all talk and no action and discredits their agenda. If they fire shots, it proves they're radical terrorists and what happens after is strictly their fault.

Or, alternately, just wait them out.  No violence involved.

There was an interview conducted by VOX News with an expert on right-wing militias, and while he recommended that the feds not fall into the trap of forcibly getting the seditionists out (which would invariably involve bloodshed), thus feeding into the paranoia and conspiracy theories so rampant in right-wing circles, he did recommend something else which I found interesting:
