dude, you have it backwards:  the idea is to use this forum to get your clown thrills so you dont rack up infraction points in real life 

I don't see it that way.  I want to stay on the forum as long as possible, so I try to keep civil here.  I may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but no one can accuse of me a vehement attack.  I may take jabs every now and then, but I don't do anything malicious.  I act the same way on the forum as I do in real life, that is with respect for my fellow poster/citizen and moderately-conservative political views with some moderately-liberal positions sprinkled in.  I will say, though, that I have a much thicker skin in real-life than I do on the forum.  I'm nowhere near the "cry baby" in real life as I am here.  I don't complain as much.  I also don't let this forum dictate what I do in real life.  I would rather take sound advice from people I know and trust than from some internet friends.  Even if your advice seems "solid", which it probably is, my nature is to be skeptical of the advice when it comes from people halfway across the country or across either pond.

Neither I nor any of the other moderators give a s**t about using profanity, but we restrict it for a very good reason.  Dave wants this site to be an educational resource, and having it blocked by filters for profanity so it couldn't be viewed in high schools would be a disservice to Dave and the site's mission. 

That's a very good reason, and a very valid reason.  It's one of the reasons why I never use profanity on this forum.

Quoting another person's personal information.  Do you remember that funeral I went to at the beginning of the year?  I mentioned the deceased's full name.  Inks shortened it and infracted me 4 points.

I've currently got one death point, but it should be falling off at month's end.  It was given on May 31, so if the death points roll off after 90 days, I should be completely clear on Saturday.  I am working feverishly to avoid the 50 points from Mikado looming at the end of September.  The good news is those 50 points would drop off all at once at New Year's.
