Jeff, if you actually completed the program, why isn't Metro Tech acknowledging that you did by sending your certificate?

you'd have to ask them.  My grades are all in m so there's literally nothing standing between me and a CAD job except applying and interviewing,

Weren't you supposed to ask them weeks ago? Come on, man, take some initiative. Actually do something with your life. Quit saying "I will" and actually do it. You keep saying that the past is the past and doesn't matter going forward, but you're still just doing the same unproductive things.

Excuse me for getting caught up in actually doing something MORE important like APPLYING FOR JOBS!!!

It is more of a delusion than a lie. Bushie avoids potentially unpleasant situations at all costs, seems he is afraid of the answers he will get back.

I'm not afraid,  I just have bigger fish to fry.

No, Jeff. That's a lie. You're telling me you've had no free time to call or email Metro Tech? You're napping and posting on the forum. You have plenty of time to send a quick email or make a quick phone call. You could do so as you drive to Braums. As long as you keep making excuses like that one, you'll never be able to succeed. Take responsibility for your actions instead of making excuses.

The fact remains I am doing what I need to to find myself a job.   I'm not ashamed of anything I'm doing right now.   Emailing them or calling them is not my top priority right now and not should it be.   I'll send them an email in the morning,  but I'm not going to worry about it.   I'm going to continue to apply for CAD jobs as well as other jobs.

I just sent the school and my instructor an e-mail asking the status of the certificate. I will now wait for a response.

I'm already started on my job search for today and have one application already in this morning.

What kind of jobs are you putting in applications for?  Are you looking at those websites that Inks and Joe Republic pointed out, to find retail jobs?

Those are included, but I just put in for a computer job - not a CAD(D) job, but an E-Commerce/Computer Science job that I went to college for.  Most of the time, it is customer service, clerical, technical support, and CAD(D).  I do look at the retail job side of craigslist, too.

I just found a beginning drafting job that says it's perfect for someone right out of drafting school.  It is a temp to hire position.  The ad was posted on Craigslist just after 9:00 am CDT this morning (45 minutes ago), I pounced on it immediately sent her my resume and immediately called her.  So, I've got an interview at 11:00.

The interview was quick, but very good.  The recruiter has forwarded my resume over to the company and we're just waiting to hear about the next steps.  I don't know the name of the company, all I know it's in West Tulsa. The recruiter seems confident and that makes me feel confident.  Now, we wait.

bushie, in hindsight would you say it was not good to leave cadd on such bad terms?

I left on great terms, so your question is irrelevant.

Interviewing for an unknown company isn't uncommon. My sister did that when she went through a recruiter. She found out who they were shortly afterwards which company it was.

I hope he gets it, but I always worry because he often gets excited and then gets turned down.

What happened to that company he interviewed with that he claimed loved god and discussed church services regularly?

I'm cautiously optimistic.

That other job turned me down as well. Sad

I just scored a second interview with the drafting job I interviewed for this morning.  They called me at 16:50 this evening, right as I was about to close up shop for the day.  The interview is this Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 15:00!!!

I'm pretty excited about the interview.   There is no website from what I can find, so I can't really investigate the company, but this place is only 9 miles from me.

Here we go again?

Doubt it.  If anyone wants to help me find a website, PM me for the name of the company.

Probably not the best idea to post that information publicly on this forum, given Mondale's shenanigans.

Good point.  Post edited.

They have no website or anything? This sounds bad. Oh boy.

I think they're just a new company.  I saw a website that was under construction.

If I were you... every time someone just interviews you without questions or reservations, Google "*insert company name* and scam" just to be sure... ad through craigslist, no web presence of any kind...

I did just that, and there were no results that came up.

I scored another job interview late this afternoon.  It is a help desk position here in Tulsa, a 6-month contract-to-hire.  I have the first interview on that this coming Monday, June 30, 2014 at 13:00.

This makes 3 hot leads that are currently active.  One generic call center, one help desk, and one entry-level drafting.

For the third straight day, I have scored an interview in the closing moments of the business day! I just got back from dinner with my parents at El Chico, but when I walked in the door of my apartment, it was 16:55, and I got a call from a recruiter in midtown Tulsa who had not one, but two positions open that she wanted to talk to me about. So, I have an interview with her Monday at 14:30 to discuss both of these positions. One position is customer support with State Farm and the other is an administrative assistant. That means I have an interview at 13:00 Monday, this two-for interview at 14:30 Monday, and one more Tuesday at 15:00.

Will you list your prior foray into "insurance" as experience?

The customer support at State Farm is positively dreadful. You may have a shot with them.

She said it would pay $10-$12, which is not great, but it's something.  The Admin Assistant would pay $12 an hour.  Oddly enough, the drafting job I will interview for on Tuesday would pay $12, as well.

Is there some sort of Iron Law of Wages in effect in Oklahoma that prevents you all from making more than $12 an hour?

I know people who didn't go to college and work in kiosks at the mall who make more per hour than that.

Not at all, it's just a coincidence that all three of these jobs are right around $12.00 an hour.  There are plenty of jobs that pay more than that.  You also have to keep in mind, Oklahoma has one of the lowest costs of living in the country.  I think OKC may have a slightly lower cost of living than Tulsa, but they're both are refreshingly low.

I take that back, OKC is slightly higher than Tulsa as shown by this link:  I put in $25,000, because that's what $12.00/hr equates to.

Bushie, I'm curious. What questions do they often ask you during the interview?

A lot of the interviews have been behavioral or situational type questions, like "tell me a time that you had to deal with an irate customer.  What did you do?"  They have asked other very similar questions, but worded slightly differently.  I've had few strengths and weaknesses questions, surprisingly.

I'd like Our Dear Friend to turn on ABC right now and give us his thoughts on Brazil vs. Chile in the 2014 FIFA (TM) World Cup.

I'm watching a more exciting game - Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays.

Sorry you didn't get to go to the aquarium, Jeff.

Mom asked me if I wanted to go, but I passed to let her and Dad have a date day together.  I joined them for dinner last evening and this evening.
