Do you guys have any good sites for South Carolina results?

I'm just going to use CNN.com.  It may not be the best, but it works for me.

I seriously agree that if McCain wins tonight, and especially if he wins big like he is now, then he has the inside track toward the nomination.  He could still get knocked out, but it would be VERY unlikely.  I think even if Giuliani manages to win Florida, he has lost too much time in not campaigning, and thus showing very poorly, in the first 5 contests, plus Maine, that he is just about done.  If Huckabee finishes lower than a very close second (within 3-4 points) then he is basically done.  He might win one or two more states, but his money would be a big setback for him.  Fred Thompson is basically done.  Mitt Romney is going to have a hard time finding states to win, except Massachusetts.

Yeah, I did not think he would, but this now sounds like a concession speech to me.

Nah, Nah, Nah Nah...  Nah, Nah, Nah Nah... Hey, Hey, Hey...  Goodbye...

I'm thinking CNN may be calling this race within the next 15 minutes.  Right now, it is 36-28 McCain with 22% in.

I'm calling this for McCain.  We're nearly 40% reporting and he has maintained at least a 5% lead.

I've asked this question about Michigan and Nevada, but what is the delegate distribution for the South Carolina GOP?

I still think Huckabee can win. All that he needs is more good results from Spartanburg, and Greenville to vote for him by a good margin.

Horry County and Florence County are still out -- big George W. Bush counties.

This over and I do not know why they are not calling it.  The county numbers favor McCain strongly from what I can tell.

Horry and Florence are still out and they think they could be strong Huck counties.

The hill is getting steeper for Mike Huckabee. 78% in and he's behind 33-30.

So wait, are we saying that a Thompson drop out would benefit McCain? I would think that people who wanted a dessicated conservative would go for Romney first (not for the dessicated part, just the conservatism).

It would be more logical for Thompson to endorse Huckabee seeing they are just about equal socially.  However, in his interview with CNN's John King last night -- Thompson spent 1 minute killing McCain and 10 minutes against Huckabee.

Well, we go to Florida, and if McCain wins Florida then its all over.  If Giuliani wins Rudy, we go on to Super Tuesday and then have a cherry-picking of states and then, probably, go on beyond that to Maryland and Virginia on February 12, and possibly all the way to Texas and Ohio on March 4.
