Fair? Uh, it's not exactly my money.

This is great. TAX CUTS are now considered a government expense?! You really think the government rightfully owns the nation's wealth, don't you?

The top 1% pays a third of the country's taxes. The top 5 pays over half. The Top 10 pays 65. The top 25 pay 82. The top 50 pay 96. Bottom pays less than 4.

The average tax rate for the top 1% is 28% of income. Top 5 is about 24. Top 50 is only about 16.

So 80% of the nation's wealth is held by the top 2 percent (like John Kerry). So what?

The income tax is absolute crap. If you have no money, and win "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," you still only get to keep about half of it.

If you have no money, and create a business, you get taxed just as much as another rich guy sitting on billions. And if you have a company that sells to rich people, who are being taxed too much, they may quit buying.

I'm not calling for a tax on what your worth (it would be unconstitutional, anyway), but I'm just pointing out the myths surrounding a 'progressive tax.' What it all comes down to is that the economy is people doing things for each other. Hurt one group, and you're going to destroy the market for another. And anyway, some of us are against class warfare altogether.

We need to repeal the 16th amendment and replace it with a federal sales tax (with rebate).

The income tax is not a tax on being rich. It's a tax on becoming rich. We need to quit taxing people seven times over, and we need to quit pretending you can damage one class without damaging whoever sells to that class.

"Who wants to Win the Government Half a Million Dollars?" Call up ABC; it'll be a hit in the blue states.

The revenue/tax chart is more of an upside down U than a straight line. Government gets the most money when we're at the center. Past that, the burden actually lowers revenue--and we're far past it.

One of the funny things about Kerry talking about raising taxes on the rich is that those tax cuts gave the Feds more revenue, not less. We just spend too much.

Bush increased no one's taxes. Why don't the liberal states pass a tax increase to make up for the terrible affects?

Taxes are going to go up and federal judges are going to be ruling against stuff like the Pledge and Ten Commandments (and in favor of total unconstitutional BS like campaign finance reform). I believe Bush will push for real tax reform in a second term.

And come on; they're spying on terrorists, not you. We didn't want Hussein to get nuclear weapons.

Kerry is only against the war when he isn't for it.

Bill Gates has paid a huge 15% tax over the last few years. While America has been fighting this war. Insteasd of paying 40% tax under Clinton. Bill Gates pays 15%.

Um, the top tax rate is 35%. It would be awesome if it was 15%.

If Bill Gates paid 15%, it's because of tax loopholes, and is just another reason we need a flat tax of 17% with no loopholes, and a certain amount of money exempt.
