Marco Rubio's Presidency
April 2018, Part 1
President Rubio's job approval rating :
Approve : 68 %
Disapprove : 24 %
Unsure : 8 %

April 1 :
-Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and India reinforced their numbers of soldiers and of border patrol agents in their borders in order to stop any attempt by Hamza Bin Laden to flee to China.

April 2 :

-In an effort to combat Russia's agression in Eastern Europe and to increase the U.S. support to Israel, Arizona Senator John McCain introduces the Solidarity Act, a bill that would support a treaty approving the entrance of Ukraine and Israel as new NATO members. While introducing that bill, McCain argues that this will ensure the recognization of Ukraine's autonomy as well as Crimea's territorial integrity and that an Israeli NATO membership could significantly enhance the NATO’s overall combat and intelligence gathering process’ critically needed to fight international terrorism, extremism and weapons of mass destruction in addition of allowing Israel to play a pivotal role by cementing its strong intelligence-to-intelligence cooperation with Western spy organizations by officially joining the Alliance thanks, notably to the collaboration of Mossad. In addition, Israel's NATO membership, aside from directly benefiting from additional security guarantees stipulated by NATO’s Article Five, could also serve the state’s long-term diplomatic interests by strengthening its standing within the international arena. The Senate will vote on that bill on April 9 while the House of Representatives will vote on it on April 16.

April 3-4 :

-Seeing his attempt to flee to China failing due to the reinforcement of security in the borders between China, India, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Hamza Bin Laden and 5 other jihadists attempt to flee in Broad Peak. Fortunately, a U.S. drone located them, thus warning the NATO authorities who then sent hundreds of soldiers in the region in order to catch the terrorists. By flying over Broad Peak with their helicopters, the U.S. Armed Forces managed to catch and surround the terrorists. Decided not to surrender, the terrorists drew their weapons in a suicidal attempt to escape but they receive fire from all sides by the machine guns of the U.S. military. As a result, the U.S. Armed Forces managed to kill Bin Laden's son, which is another major victory against global terrorism.

April 5 :

-In Jerusalem, riots between Israeli and Palestinian citizens following the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel killed 9 people and wounded 11 others.

-During a speech in at the Detroit Economic Club in Detroit, Michigan, President Rubio praises the strong economic growth that the United States are now living thanks, notably, to the relaunch of America's manufacturing industry and automobile industry. He reiterated his administration's pledge to promote the development of new infrastructures in order to increase commercial activities, to ensure the implementation of new businesses in America and to further reinforce America's status as the best business-friendly environment in the world.

The two leaders discussed issues such as the relations between the United States and Mexico, economic and trade ties between the two countries, energy, immigration, human rights and democracy in Latin America, the War on Drugs and counter-terrorism. The two men agree on most of these issues, which explains a further warm up of the relations between the United States and Mexico. During their bilingual joint bilateral press conference (both in English and Spanish due to Rubio's and Nieto's fluency in Spanish) at the Museo Nacional de Arte in Mexico City, Enrique Peña Nieto praises President Rubio's call for immigration reform as well as his promotion of free trade and NAFTA and his leadership in fighting crime and drug trafficking and in promoting democracy and human rights in Latin America.

April 13-14 :

-President Rubio arrives in Lima, Peru where he meets with all his allies in the Americas who are members of the Organization of American States in the context of the 8th Summit of the Americas. During that summit, all the leaders of American states agreed to ratify a free trade agreement between NAFTA members and Latin America while excluding Cuba and Venezuela due to human rights abuses in these two countries. President Rubio declares that the reduction of corporate tax rates as well as the reduction of tax rates for manufacturing makes it possible to make trade deals fair for workers in addition of « allowing us to counterbalance China's trade power. » As a result, the American states participating at the Summit of the Americas signed a free trade deal between North America and Latin America called the American Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA), thus lowering tariffs and increasing trade exchanges between these nations. The leaders all agreed to pursue their efforts to encourage democracy and human rights in Venezuela and Cuba, about which Justin Trudeau declares « respect of human rights, democracy, free speech, and free enterprise are the right path to stability, peace, security, freedom, integrity and prosperity in Latin America. » President Rubio and his allies also discussed energy and agreed to make the fight against corruption and against crime and drug trafficking a priority in addition of agreeing to pursue their efforts to fight terrorism, including ISIS, and to increase sanctions against any state sponsoring terrorism, including Venezuela who sponsors the Hezbollah. April 2018, Part 2

April 15 :

-After his tour in Latin America, President Rubio arrives in Memphis, Tennessee to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's death along with Vice-President Haley and Martin Luther King III (MLK's son), praising Dr. King's fight for African Americans' civil rights and calling for the persistance of the fight for these rights and for better living conditions for the African American community. During his speech at the National Civil Rights Museum, where MLK was assassinated, President Rubio even declared « I Have a Dream. And this dream is to see every single American, no matter their race, their religion, their origins and their beliefs, to have the same rights and to have a fair chance to live free and prosperous here in America, the hope of the Earth. »

April 16 :

-The House of Representatives votes 301-134 for the Solidarity Act that is later signed into law by President Rubio, thus approving the entrances of Israel and Ukraine as new NATO members.

April 17 :

-After the Congress approved Israel's NATO membership, President Rubio meets Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. During their bilateral joint press conference in Washington D.C., they declared that this day is a remarkable day for the relations between the 2 countries and that Israel's NATO membership « made us much stronger than ever before against extremism, terrorism, Iran and all the enemies of freedom and liberty. »

April 18 :

-In the context of the 2018 midterms elections, former CEO of the Kellogg Company and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce under George W. Bush Carlos Gutierrez announced during a rally in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that he will run for Congress in Florida's 23rd Congressional District as a Republican. So he is likely to challenge Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Despite the fact that Florida's 23rd Congressional District is usually a Democratic stronghold, the Republicans see an opportunity there due to the Democratic Party's left wing's dissatisfaction towards Schultz who has been accused several times of pro-establishment bias by scheduling less debates during the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries while she was Chair of the Democratic National Committee and by contacting with Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign in order to derail Bernie Sanders' campaign, which angered hard-core progressive voters, including many Sanders' supporters. The moreover that Schultz' victory margins have been reduced from 62 %-38 % in 2014 to 54 %-44 % in 2016. In addition, Gutierrez' business experience and wide knowledge in economics could help him to attract voters who are selecting the economy as the most important issue at a time of strong economic growth due to the success and effectiveness of the Rubionomics. His Hispanic heritage could help him to attract Hispanic voters, an important electoral group that represents now almost 20 % of Florida's voters and a group that made a great contribution in helping their fellow Hispanic Marco Rubio to get to victory in the 2016 presidential election. Gutierrez can also benefit on the fact that Florida is President Rubio's home state. As a result, Florida's 23rd Congressional District is now rated as a toss-up.

April 20 :
-President Rubio meets with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House where they discussed issues such as the economy, trade, energy, democracy, freedom, human rights in Africa, fight against AIDS, fight against terrorism, etc.

April 21 :

-After days of siege and clashes with the pro-Russian insurgents, the Ukrainian Army took Luhansk.

April 22 :
-President Rubio gives an Earth Day speech in Newark, New Jersey, where he declares that « our path to a prosperous and clean environment is approaching thanks to the American Energy Revolution. »

April 23 :
-President Rubio signs an executive order blocking public funding for abortion clinics.

April 24 :

-Vice-President Haley campaigns for Carlos Guitierrez in Florida's 23rd Congressional District.

-In order to reduce Ukraine's dependence on Russian oil, President Rubio issues an executive order abolishing bans on U.S. oil exports to Ukraine.

April 25 :
-Most of the cities in eastern Donbass are recaptured by the Ukrainian Army.

April 26 :
-President Rubio announces during a press conference at the White House that his administration will adopt a plan to develop infrastructure during the summer.

April 27 :
-President Rubio hosts Finn President Sauli Niinistö at the White House where they discussed issues like economic and trade ties, energy, democracy and freedom, Russia and the fight against terrorism.

April 29 :
-After eliminating the last remaining pockets of pro-Russian insurgents in the cities of Krasnodon and Sverdlovs'k, Ukraine officially declares victory in the War in Donbass. President Rubio describes it as a great victory for democracy, freedom, justice and security.

April 30 :

-Secretary of State Lindsey Graham starts a tour in Africa in order to prepare the pivot of the Rubio Administration's foreign policy towards the African continent.

Carlos Gutiérrez does not live in the 23rd district. He's a neighbor of my cousins in the 27th district, two hours south.

PS I love this TL

Unless Gutiérrez would have changed residence in this timeline in order to challenge Schultz.

And thank you very much. This is my first timeline and I think it will be my best one ever. Smiley

I wonder who won the Ohio Republican Governor Primary? With Kasich been so strong you would expect that this would bode well for Kasichs Lt. Governor Mary Taylor who could become Ohios 1st Female Governor in November.

Ohio Republican Gubernatorial primary
Mary Taylor : 51 %

Mike DeWine : 34 %
Jim Renacci : 15 %

What happened to Josh Mandel in the Ohio senate race?

Let's say that he is selected by Mary Taylor to be her running mate, which means that if Taylor is elected Governor in November, Mandel would become Lieutenant-Governor.

Marco Rubio's Presidency
May 2018, Part 2

May 15 :
-The State Department announces the approval of a $41.5m sale of small arms to Ukraine.

May 16 :
-The UN General Assembly has approved a resolution strongly condemning human rights violations in Russian-annexed Crimea and referring to Russia as an "occupying power" there.

May 17 :
-President Rubio meets with Cameroonian President Paul Biya at the White House where they discussed issues such as economic and trade ties between the two nations, energy, democracy and freedom on the African continent and the fight against terrorism.

May 18 :

-President Rubio starts campaigning for 2018 Republican senatorial candidates. He started in Ohio where he campaigns for Republican senatorial nominee John Kasich. Here are some parts of his speech during his rally in Columbus, Ohio :

Hello, Ohio.

It's a great honor to be here in the great state of Ohio in order to fight for what is right for America. In November, the American people will go to the polls in order to decide the balance of power and America's future depends on it. The question that will be asked to the voters is whether we move backwards in the years of weak economy, of big government and of strong terrorist threat or we keep moving forward through the promotion of free enterprise, of free market, of small government, of energy independence and of a strong foreign policy that helped us to make America safe. That requires expanding our majority in the Congress through the election of a terrific team of conservative Republican lawmakers. That's why I am here to officially announce my endorsement to Governor John Kasich for U.S. Senate.

[Crowd cheers and applauds]

John and I were once rivals when we both ran for the Republican presidential nomination, but we have much more similarities than differences and I'm fully thankful of his endorsement to my presidential candidacy and of his strong efforts and contributions to ensure my election at the presidency of the United States. Thanks to these efforts, we turned the country around. Over the last 2 years. By cutting taxes for all Americans, by promoting oil production, by ending the War on Coal, by encouraging free trade with our allies in Asia, Europe and Latin America, by promoting school choice and by championing small businesses, we made America the best place in the world to do business, we created over 6 million new jobs and brought the unemployment rate at its lowest rate since 1970. And thanks to the adoption of the Rubiocare, we improved our health care system by exempting taxpayers from regulations aimed at bankrupting health insurance companies, thus reinforcing their purchasing power as well as their access to health care services. By reinforcing our security measures, by increasing our defense budget, by strengthening and expanding our alliances and by striking terrorists wherever they are, we made strong progress against radical Islamic terrorism, we eradicated ISIS in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen and our courageous soldiers killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. By reinforcing our military presence in the Pacific Ocean, by increasing sanctions against North Korea and its international financial firms and by creating the Pacific Treaty Organization, we took the advantage against North Korea. By standing with our allies in Europe and by providing them all the necessary material and military support, we took advantage against Russia in Eastern Europe.

But Governor Kasich's opponent, Senator Sherrod Brown, is running on the wrong ideas. He has a record of voting to increase taxes on hard working families and and businesses. He voted against the Small Business Tax Fairness Act of 2000 that reduced taxes on small business and increased the minimum wage while we all know that most of the jobs created come from small businesses. He voted over 35 times in favor of raising taxes on Social Security, on small businesses and on hard working families, including middle class families. He voted for Medicare taxes on seniors citizens. In 2012, Senator Brown voted against the JOBS Act that cut regulatory burdens on small and medium-sized businesses making it easier for them to raise capital and create jobs. Even after 9/11, the worst attack that was orchestrated against our country, Sherrod Brown voted against voted against establishing the Department of Homeland Security, a measure that reinforced our national security and prevented further terrorist attacks against us. While we all know that Iran is using the revenues from the lifting of the sanctions to develop nuclear weapons and to sponsor, fund and arm terrorist groups around the world, Sherrod Brown voted NO on describing the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group even though the Quds Force, a special forces unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, is arming the Taliban, the same radical Islamic terrorists that gave refuge to Osama Bin Laden, the perpetrator of the 9/11 attacks, in Afghanistan.

[Crowd boos]

But Governor Kasich has all the experience needed to make sure our country will keep moving forward. Before his time as Governor, Ted Strickland's big government policies that increased taxes, encouraged the War on Coal and restricted trade cost Ohio 350 000 jobs, placed Ohio as 48th state in terms of job creation and increased the unemployment rate. But when John Kasich became Governor, he brought this state back on track by cutting taxes by billions for all Ohioans and by eliminating income taxes for small-business owners, which made Ohio a stronger business-friendly environment and encouraged job creation through free enterprise and free market, which brought Ohio's unemployment rate from 10.3 % in 2010 to 4 % this year in 2018. And he balanced the budget not only once but twice. He served as a member of the House Armed Services Committee for 18 years so he knows what it takes to keep America safe.

By reinforcing our majority in the Senate through the election of John Kasich as your senator, we will keep moving America forward and ensure the adoption of bills and laws that will grow the economy and create jobs and give all the necessary efforts to defeat radical Islamic terrorism and to keep America free and safe. So Ohio, I call on you to mobilize, to go to the polls and elect John Kasich to the U.S. Senate.

Thank you. God bless Ohio and God bless the United States of America.

May 2018, Part 3

The YES option received 55 % of the vote while the NO option obtained 45 % of the vote. As a result, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe obtained the mandate to modify the 9th Article on Japan's Constitution, thus allowing Japan to militarize itself in the context of North Korea's nuclear threat. Abe declares the results of the referendum as a victory for Japan and for international stability, security and peace.

-President Rubio speaks with Shinzo Abe on the phone and congratulated him for the victory of the YES option that will modify the 9th Article of Japan's Constitution and allow Japan to militarize itself. At the same occasion, the two leaders declared that these results will increase pressure on North Korea, reinforce efforts to fight terrorism in the Asia-Pacific region (including Abu Sayyaf), ensure territorial integrity in the region and restore stability and peace in the Pacific Ocean.

May 24 :

May 30 :

-The House of Representatives votes 277-156 for the Opportunity Act to reform America's immigration system. The bill is signed into law by President Rubio, thus reforming America's immigration system and ensuring the American citizenship for immigrants across the nation.

May 31 :
-President Rubio hosts Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the White House where they discussed issues like economic and trade ties between the two countries, energy, democracy, defense ties, North Korea, China and counter-terrorism. Later, during their bilateral joint press conference, the President of the United States praised Japan's decision to militarize itself after the referendum on the 9th Article of the Japanese Constitution and declared that « this is a great step towards our victory against North Korea and Abu Sayyaf, towards the respect of the Asia-Pacific region's territorial integrity as well as stability and peace in the Pacific. »

2018 Senate Ads in May 2018

Club for Growth Action senatorial ad in Ohio :

Narrator : Throughout his political career, Sherrod Brown has voted over and over again against the interests of hard working families and business.

In 2012, Senator Brown voted against the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act that cut regulatory burdens on small and medium-sized businesses making it easier for them to raise capital and create jobs.

But John Kasich has the experience and proven reputation of fighting for Ohio's workers and taxpayers.

When he became Governor, while Ohio was ranked as the 48th state in terms of job creation due to his predecessor's tax increases and support to the War on Coal, Kasich brought this state back on track by cutting taxes by billions for all Ohioans and by eliminating income taxes for small-business owners, which made Ohio a stronger business-friendly environment and encouraged job creation through free enterprise and free market, which brought Ohio's unemployment rate from 10.3 % in 2010 to 4 % this year in 2018. As former Chair of the House Budget Committee, he knows what it takes to balance. No wonder that he did it as Ohio Governor not only once but twice.

With the election of John Kasich in the U.S. Senate, we'll ensure that the effects of the Rubionomics, that created over 6 million jobs in the last 2 years and brought the national unemployment rate from 5.4 % to 3.8 % (the lowest rate since 1970) thanks to small government, lower taxes, energy independence, free trade and championship of small businesses, will bring America, including Ohio, to full employment and permanent prosperity. Join this fight for America's prosperity by electing John Kasich to the U.S. Senate.

Crossroads GPS senatorial ad in Indiana :

Narrator : While Joe Donnelly claims to be an independent and fiscally responsible politician, his record tells another story. During his time in the House of Representatives, he came forward at one time to say he wanted to reduce the inheritance tax, however the first time he had a chance to repeal it, he voted against it. The first time he ran for office, he claimed to be a fiscal conservative, but since then he voted to raise the deficit 7 times.

He voted against tax breaks for the middle class. He also supported Dodd-Frank that made big banks bigger that eviscerated small businesses and small banks since it wiped out 40 % of small and mid-size banks that loan money to small businesses, which cost millions of jobs.

Indiana deserves better than Donnelly's big government folly. Mike Pence is the candidate we need to defend the interests of taxpayers and Indiana's hardworking families. As Governor of Indiana, Mike Pence cut the income tax by 5 percent and killed the inheritance tax. By signing Senate Bill 1, he permitted Indiana counties to eliminate the business personal property tax on new equipment and let them exempt small businesses with less than $20,000 worth of equipment from paying personal property taxes. And as Senator, Mike Pence will keep putting Indiana's taxpayers first by promoting fiscal conservatism, free enterprise and free market through small government, lower taxes and business championing for the sake of a strong economy, strong families and strong America.

Right now, our nation is stronger than ever before. Throughout the last 2 years, we grew our economy through lower taxes, small government, promotion of oil drilling and energy development, promotion of free trade and school choice and the restoration of America's status as the best place in the world to do business. America is now safer than ever before. By reinforcing our homeland security as well as the FBI's counter-terrorism budget, by increasing our defense budget, reinforcing and modernizing our military and our alliances by striking terrorists wherever they are and by arming the right groups in the Middle East through background checks, we eradicated ISIS and Al Qaida in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen and our troops killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. There is still work to do and accomplishing that duty to keep America safe and prosperous partly requires reinforcing our majority in the Senate by adding strong foreign policy experience and knowledge there. The President describes all of John James' background as important pillars of the American Dream as well as the experience needed in a senator in order to make sure that America will keep moving forward through the adoption of pro-growth and business-friendly laws promoting lower taxes and small government as well as bills aimed at keeping America's military and national security strong in order to defeat global terrorism.

President Rubio stated that his foreign policy towards Africa will boost America's competitiveness in the region through the increase of U.S. investments there, which will be done thanks to partnerships between the U.S. Department of Treasury and private companies. Since his Administration's tax cuts for America's agricultural businesses helped them to innovate and manufacture more agricultural products and technologies and thus reduced food prices through the reduction of inflation, he declared that America's agricultural projects will be more successful and help America to surpass China on this sector. He also stated that the end of the War on Coal as well as the promotion of clean coal technologies as well as America's rapid path to energy thanks to the promotion of oil drilling and production (which also reduced energy prices in the USA and reinforced American consumers' purchasing power), the United States' investments in the construction of coal plants and other energy infrastructures in Africa will surpass China's. President Rubio also pledged to reinforce economic and trade ties with African countries and to fight for the promotion of democracy, freedom and human rights in this continent. He also declared that the fight against AIDS as well as against radical Islamic terrorism will be another priority of his foreign policy towards Africa and that terrorism will be defeated thanks to the increase of America's military and intelligence efforts, notably a multiplication of the number of U.S. drone bases in Africa and the provision of U.S. military, material and intelligence support for African countries' armed forces.
