Who are we going to be voting for, then?

the green party.

better live in a country ruled by pot-hating, private-prison-complex-enhancing, health-care-destroying, trans-mocking EPA-slayers than in one governed by the center-left, i guess.

Well if the corporatists refuse to learn their lesson, then they should keep losing. Maybe one day their bubble will be popped and they'll realise that without progressives, they're going to keep losing.

Well if the corporatists refuse to learn their lesson, then they should keep losing.

"the corporatists" aren't losing, WE are all losing and the major reason the republicans didn't lose this time is, that they didn't care anymore for ideological hegemony.

Perhaps so, but someone needs to pop their centrist THird Way "muh electability" bubble sometime. Maybe when they get deserted by the left they'll understand that.

Or they could go further down the centrist path and become the centre-right party while the Republicans become the right wing party. My point being, Democrats don't want to be left leaning because that stops them from getting cushy lobbying jobs after.

I wouldn't have voted for Clinton if I was American. I was prepared to be pragmatic . . . then came the DNC day 1 leaks, and all bets were off.

If this really is just a ceremonial position, as I hear so many people here say . . . then why not let Ellison have it? Even if just to throw a bone to the Sanders wing.

Answer: It's not ceremonial. It's a final attempt by Obama to keep control of the Democratic Party.

I really love all the damn bern bros bitching in the thread that they aren't going to vote Dem if they don't get what they want.  You want to know who is out of touch and who is being a brat, look in the mirror.

Yeah, this thread is getting stupid.

Dismiss "Bernie bros" at your own peril Democrats. It appears that you've learned nothing from 2016.
Man you really are acting like a child. Go out like we are and fight the real enemy instead of being some bitter petty asshole all the time. It does nothing for you but bring you pain and dissatisfaction.

Way to make stupid assumptions about my character.

After Bernie lost, I went out volunteered a ton of my time to help campaign for Hillary Clinton during the general. I'm active within my local Democratic Party, and campaign for local Democrats in my area. I'm doing my part.

It's you and the rest of the DNC who needs to wake up and take a look in the mirror, because what you've been doing clearly hasn't been working. Democratic U.S. Senate seats have fallen from 55 to 46. Our share of the House has plummeted from 256 seats to 194. Republicans still control both chambers. We've lost 958 state legislative seats. Democratic governerships have slipped from 28 to 16. We're losing, and it's not because of "Bernie bros."

JFC.

Yet instead of trying to fix these things you want to take your ball and go sit in the damn corner.

Don't know how you got that from my post.

I'm about as involved in the Democratic Party as someone my age can get, and yet you think I'm taking my ball and sitting in the damn corner. LOL

Honestly there's no way you can reason with spoiled children like JerryArkansas or Lief.
We're not the ones threatening to leave the party because we don't get our way. That's you guys. Love the projection though. Haven't seen it in a while.

You want to dismiss the Sanders wing as "children who don't know what's good for them", then you pay the price. Considering the leaks that occurred on day 1 of the DNC, I'd say they've given way too many chances.

VP pick: Hillary could've picked Sherrod Brown, Elizabeth Warren, Mark Dayton, Pete Shumlin, Keith Ellison or someone else. No, she picked Tim Kaine

Campaign: Bernie supporters in Wisconsin cry out "Come to Wisconsin or you'll lose it!". She ignores them, assuming it's on lock. She loses Wisconsin.

DNC chair: Bernie supporters rally around Ellison. You say it's ceremonial, so let him have it. Instead, you push Perez in a last ditch effort to maintain the influence of the Third Way centrists.

They would be perfectly within their right to say "get lost", but now their Justice Democrats movement is gaining traction. Some still believe they can change things from within . . . don't piss away that last ounce of goodwill they have.

This is why no one takes you guys seriously Roll Eyes

I pointed out legitimate arguments, yet you dismiss them.

This is why no-one takes the Third Way seriously anymore. As soon as someone suggests something slightly left-wing, they get shouted down for being too idealistic.

I wonder how much power Keith will have as deputy

Please. Perez will do everything possible to make sure his influence is minimal.

Just take a look at the forums that Sanders supporters frequent, and you'll see that this isn't going over well. #unity right?

You might think they're being unreasonable, but Perez was objectively the worst choice for party unity. This is eerily similar to the 2016 primaries.

I'll probably never leave the Democratic Party, but this was just the wrong move strategically. Also, the self-righteous and paternalistic attitude that a lot of the red avatars are taking towards the Bernie wing of the party is not helpful in the slightest.

I actually didn't think both of them would really bring fresh ideas to the chair but I would have still given it to Ellison just to smooth out the skepticism from the sanders wing. Perez entering the race made no sense at all. Thats why you have Schumer trying to get Ellison elected because he knew this would set us back when unity is what we need the most.

That's the thing. If Ellison and Perez were so similar, as I hear so often, then why did Perez enter the race after Ellison announced?

Answer: Obama and Clinton want to maintain as much control as possible.

He's right, they shouldn't leave the party. They need to conquer it, State after State, county after county.

Exactly!Using the same organizing tactics as the tea parties.

Indeed. It worked wonders for the GOP, no reason it won't for us.

That's assuming the state parties don't try to kneecap us, which they certainly will try to.

Well, didn't we just take over California and a few other State parties? I'm sure we can do the same elsewhere.

Except the California Democrats weren't prepared. Watch as the other state parties pass rules to kneecap Bernie supporters. They'd rather lose with the Third Wayer than win with a progressive.
