I have a hard time finding any sympathy for these idiots.

Yeah, we wouldn't want any of that pesky empathy interfering in our ability to gloat at other human beings' suffering, now would we? Empathy is only deserved by people who think the right way (i.e. empathy must be earned). Not because they're humans and, as such, are deserving of dignity or anything silly like that. I suppose if you can't achieve bipartisan agreement on something positive, you can at least achieve it through the bipartisan embrace of callousness and calls for personal responsibility. Tell me, how are your views, as stated here, any different in substance than Chaffetz's remarks about poor people needing to stop buying iPhones instead of healthcare?

They supported him, they deserve the consequences.

So then you admit that you believe empathy must be earned by doing/thinking the "right way" and that not all people, simply on the basis of them being humans, are deserving of certain basic necessities and dignity. Alrighty then, that tells me all I need to know.

That milquetoast liberal empathy is why the republicans keep winning, They go in the gutter and were supposed to just get all touchy feely and feel bad instead of actually fighting back.

So let's embrace right-wing, elitist callousness towards the suffering of others and browbeat them into somehow voting for the people who mock their suffering. Sounds about right. Good plan. I suppose fighting back by embracing social justice and ensuring dignity for all humans is just ridiculous. Silly me.

They supported him, they deserve the consequences.
But shouldn't they be seen akin to victims of fraudsters and deserve understanding instead? After all, they're needed to at least halt any further damage.

Nah, treating them like dogs*** on the bottom of your shoe is a far more socially just and effective political strategy. Like she said, the problem with Democrats is that they aren't Republican enough. Obviously, she and those who think like her (which is very common), want Democrats to compete with Republicans to see who can be more callous towards human suffering.
