If you guys got through Dudabides and KCDEM, then you guys can handle me calling Bernie a socialist for a roll call duration.

I mean, Bernie Sanders has called himself a socialist himself. There is no (further) harm there.
So would it be fair to say then that he personally is a socialist, (of course his voters aren't), since why doesn't he call himself a social democrat??

It would not.  He was thoroughly vetted by both the Socialist Party USA and the Socialist Workers Party and they decided he was not a Socialist.  In fact, he is a Democrat.  He ran as a Democrat candidate in the Democrat Primaries this year.  You only add to confusion when you label him a socialist.  Many of his voters may be socialist, but Sanders, despite his self-identification as a socialist, is not recognized as a socialist by either of the main two socialist organizations, and to continue doing so generates confusion.  That said, Wulfric is just having fun.  Let him have fun.  I'm not knocking what he is doing, but your question needs to be answered:  Sanders, at the moment, is a Democrat.  If you don't understand that, you must have been asleep in a cave like Rumplestiltskin.  The whole Feel the Bern thing and the Sandernistas and the BernieBots and the Bernie Bros and the like, attacking Clintonistas, would not have occurred if Sanders ran as a Socialist instead of a Democrat.

He is definitely not a Socialist. But he is a socialist.

They will move to nominate Clinton by acclamation in the very end.

I don't regard him as one.  You have to remember that gringos use the term very, very loosely.  I suspect you do as well, and that this may be part of your point, but I cannot accept that definition.  Socialism is a legitimate and thorough economic system, and it offers many advantages.  It is an economic system by which the means of production and distribution of goods are in the control of the state.

Corrected to avoid incompatibility with the following sentence.

Sanders is socialist in the same sense Mitterand was a sociallist (or Hollande is). Both, mercifully, understood that they could not control means of production and distribution - at least, given the fact that they, actually, had to win real elections Smiley

Sanders is coming on?  Is he going to nominate Clinton?

Hell, I might actually watch.  I haven't watched any of the RNC or DNC--although I do like watching these threads--Sanders nominating Clinton actually be worth a watch.  We don't have to head out till about 7:15.  Reckon he'll speak and be finished before then?

ag:  I'm conflicted about Mitterand.  I remember being in high school and learning of the "socialist" policies of Mitterand at the time, but they seemed to conflict with what we were actually learning in school, especially regarding socialism, its definition and origins.  It's always tough to be smarter than the teachers, isn't it.  I'm sure you know how exactly what I'm talking about.

Tongue

"Ideal socialism" and "ideal capitalism", are not political positions. No actual politician can truly adhere to either.  I mean, they could be preached to religious cults, but that is about the limit of their applicability in real life. Makes no sense discussing them on actual politics boards.

And, no, I do not know what you are talking about. I used to have good teachers.

Sanders is a Democrat and a capitalist.  Not a Socialist.  Not a socialist.  It may be his "brand" but it's a ruse.

Ok, I will correct it. Sanders is as much of a socialist as any a democratic politician of any prominence that has ever existed and has declared himself/herself socialist. Would that work better for you?

So was the Tim Kaine VP nomination done yesterday, or is that later tonight?

Tomorrow, no? I mean, that has always been the logic.

I hate to say it, but this might just be Bubba's last address to a national convention.

If she wins, he comes back in 2020.

I intended that he looks like he's in poor health.  I don't know if he'll make it to then.

Considering the age, he is not looking too badly. Obviously, he is not the young guy we all remember. Neither am I the same sophomore student I was when I watched election returns back in 1992.

Melania Trump didn't talk about her husband as in depth as Bill Clinton is talking about his wife. Trump doesn't have much going for him when his wife can only give a plagiarized, "meh" speech about him.

I mean, she barely knows him.

Contrast this speech to all of those from Trump family members last week.

Bill does have 30 extra years of marriage to talk about.

Well, even aside from the fact that Trump does not stay married for 30 years, I doubt any of his wives have had much intereaction with him. I mean, it is, probably, wham, bam, thankyou darling, see you in a couple days.

Purple heart

This convention makes me want to be a Democrat. It's impossible in real life, but for the first time this campaign I'm really tempted to sport a red avatar.

Come on! Come in!

I missed the speech. Did he mention how he got his d**k sucked by an intern? Or how he slept with Gennifer Flowers? Or how Barbara Streisand is on the persona non grata list at the White House because the former Horn Dog-in-Chief allegedly screwed her while Hillary was gone?
When you're in an open relationship none of that matters.
Funny, I missed the memo about an "open relationship." And Hillary! was allegedly pissed after the Streisand incident, IIRC.

Sorry Bill vouching for Hill is like Baghdad Bob telling me there were no troops in Iraq as we were watching them drive in on TV. Zero credibility.

Feels lonely here tonight, eh?

No one, no one, supporting Trump has the right to call anyone a sleaze.

Unless, of course, they say it in praise.

It's funny to me that you red avatars that are supposed to be for equality and against rape are basically orgasming over a speech made by the White Bill Cosby.

Well, considering that you are supporting a candidate who has made rape his major campaign logo and campaign plank...  Poor gov'nor Pence.

Rape as a campaign plank? Oh do explain.

Well, his entire campaign is based on a slogan "Rape America Great!" Isn't it? And his campaign logo says that he wants to start with his Veep.
