As a man who keeps track of minutes, hours and seconds, what date were you let go?

Monday, February 18, 2013 at 9:45 am.

I'd guess more toward the first of the month, before you started other interviews.

He's buying a new A/C unit for that damn house? Those things are not cheap! Just let it go. Stop throwing good mony after bad.

We're hoping the insurance company will pay for it since it was a theft.  If they don't, then we won't buy an A/C on our own.  We are not going to spend $7500 with no reimbursement or insurance payout.
Hoping? Have you not called the insurance company to see if it's covered? The A/C theft was a while ago. If your policy doesn't cover it, and you don't plan on replacing it, that's something a prospective buyer is going to want to know.

I'll be calling them early this next week to make sure.  I will admit, I've slacked off on that.

Shameful.  Better have the written police report handy before you call.

I hope you commit to holding this job for at the very least a year, if not longer...

Definitely at least 12 months, preferably a lot longer.

That's not long enough.....

And clearly BIGDaddyTX was correct.

torie.. texasindy and I have taken many trips across southern utah and northern arizona.. what a beautiful place. i tend to like utah better though.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE ZION NATIONAL PARK

We seem to have a lot in common. Smiley  Never been to Park City though. I just don't have the balls to risk skiing on powder. At my age, you just can't afford to break anything. It may never come back to what it was before, and that would not comport with my bod beautification program at all.  Can't have that!

Can you take the JamesTroll lovefest elsewhere?

Have you considered publishing this memoir? It's alreadey written. People love it! The English departments at major universities could spend years "deconstructing and analyzing" the Update. There's a lot to work with and it's in a new, intriguing format. Go with what you do well. This is it. Employment is not it. Although I think a good stint at a grocery is still a good idea.

This might work better:

The problem is, BushOK thinks he is entitled to some high paying, high skilled job, and does not want to put in the work to get back to the type of job he had at ONG. The more jobs he quits, the further and further he gets from ever achieving that goal.

I thought the job at the natural gas company was a bottom level office clerk job.

As for Grumps Walmart idea - I think it is definitely better to do nothing than to go to Walmart.  We don't want a suicide on our hands.

You do care!  (uh, where is the girl's hand in that signature of yours?  Is that why the guy is smiling so much?  )

As for the signature, I never noticed that interpretation.  Perhaps its a Mormon orgy.

Well, little brother seems mighty happy and lil sis' left hand is missing.....I report, you decide!  Wink

So Dad takes overtime to pay the bills and Bushie takes voluntary time offs. Do I have that right?

I am not sure if that's why he's working late or not. I am sure the money is beginning to run out after a few years of this.

He needs the money so he works.  Someone else in the house should do the same.

Only 14 years........actually that's not bad compared to never hitting 14 months.

So, Bushie's Dad has long term employment, his mom retired (why did she have to, by the way), meaning she worked some place a long time, and his brother is a 20+ Navy man......all admirable, employment wise.  That's one quality you want to emulate, Bushie.

So, all of Bushie's family works for the goverfnment, either directly or indirectly? There's the key difference. Hope the sequester doesn't make them all homeless. If so, maybe they're know what "smaller government" means for them in the future.

I'm more concerned about my brother being still in Active Duty Navy.  He only has 16 months until retirement, but we're concerned that the sequester and coming military cuts will force him out of the Navy prematurely and thus cost him his retirement and get nothing in return for nearly 20 years of service.  I don't think Congress would be that cruel, but you never know, they care more about themselves than our military.

They're going to toss out the newbies and maybe limit new service members.  He's fine.

That's what I believe will happen, but Congress can be unpredictable and cold-hearted, at times, so there's always a little concern.

Congress won't make those decisions.   They don't have operational control of the miltary.

If his dad loses his job, it would probably end up being the best thing overall for the entire family.  I don't see the enabling stopping any other way.

Good god man, talk about a scorched earth policy!  They'll all be dead if he lost his government-related job!

Compassionate conservatism.

You can't stand up for 8 hours or more, I'd see if Target has a call center for their catalog or something.

Its so crazy they force people to stand up that long for the absurd pittance they pay - and for no reason at all.  Modern slavery.

When I lived in Switzerland I noticed that all the cashiers were all comfortably seated in neat little ergonomic swing-away chairs at their registers.  (of course to be fair I'm not sure Bushie would fit in one).

Hey they have a job where he can sit

It doesn't take long to read a job description.  You've been home multiple days.  You should have at least 20 applications in by now.

Yes, 4 to 5 per day is very reasonable.

You might consider having a few people look over your resume. I feel like every time I've had someone look at mine, it has only gotten better.

Well, unless he wilfully omits some of the 15 jobs he's had in the last 3 years, he's going to need a ton of help explaining them, so good idea!

This "show" should be turned off. It's a disgrace that a such an immature, hopeless, and thoroughly sheltered individual should have a venue to trouble the world with his pathetic sob story. Stop clogging this forum with your pathetic excuses and recriminations about a life you have squandered. Change or not, we shouldn't care anymore. You got your chances, put up or sh**t up.

I'm just curious, what is your house like?  Any photos? Does it have a nice, clean, non-dank basement?  Or in particular a 'walk-out' basement?

I would suggest going to live in the basement - there you will be sort of 'away from' the family, and feel you have 'your own space' (for those private moments, you know what I mean).  With the proper level of preparation and mutual respect for 'lines', you could live out the rest of your parent's days there in the house without really increasing their overall costs that much or inconveniencing them much either.

Moble home, bro.

At this point I would even encourage Bushie to become bolemic, because this is ridiculous. Every time we get back, you promise us the moon, walk for 20 minutes and then go back to eating your million calorie meals. Just don't eat the d*mn food! It's not that hard! God almighty!

We need to go for a drink someday......you're as Grumpy as me!  Cheesy

Definitely! Though more frustrated than grumpy. I can't believe this guy has made the members of this forum suffer through hundreds of pages of soppy bull...

Without ever listening to our advice.  When a diplomat like Torie starts laying it on the line for Bushie, you know there is frustration here.

Good job today, Bushie - that's a start, now it's on you to keep it up.

Dude, he didn't do anything.......he tells us what we want to hear sometimes.

You put up that post just to annoy everybody didn't you Jeff?

No question.  Eating and acting like an amazonian sloth, instead of trying to find a job and better his life.  Yeah, this was intentional, Torie.
