The judge was pretty phlegmatic about it all. I as a judge would have flipped out, and the deputy would never set foot in my courtroom again. The deputy's conduct was outrageous.

I wonder what was in the letter that was so transfixing to the one deputy that he summoned deputy porky to purloin the letter in plain sight.

Well Arpaio isn't going to follow the judge's orders, or allow porky to follow said orders. That idiot thinks he is above the law.

Where sbane is the story that says all of that? It was not in the tape clip obviously. What were the judge's orders that Arpaio is stonewalling on?  And if he is, would not the judge rule him in contempt of court?

Read Linus Van Pelt's second post in this thread.

Thanks. IC now. However the judge's order was silly, and probably unenforceable, and maybe a violation of the first amendment, so Arpaio may have seen that as an opening. The judge strikes me as an idiot. The deputy should have been suspended without pay in my opinion for a period of time, and then sent to duties that do not involve being in a courtroom ever again.  Not only love (to refer to that silly novel and movie) , but also accountability has nothing to do with saying your sorry.  Sorry is about remorse about getting caught in this kind of context.  Having said that, Arpaio appears to be an out of control grandstanding media driven whore, who knows no limits short of going to the slammer himself.  That is quite disturbing in a law enforcement official.

Outrageous - the deputy needs to be fired.

The judge was pretty phlegmatic about it all. I as a judge would have flipped out, and the deputy would never set foot in my courtroom again. The deputy's conduct was outrageous.

Then again, isn't it her job to be somewhat calm and reasoned and figure out what happened?

Ya, it is a judgment call. But when something outrageous happens, it is not a requirement that a judge act like some zombie akin to an animated cadaver either.
