I would not be too sure that there will be a vote Saturday night.

The House is supposed to have their final vote on the bill this Saturday, probably sometime late at night. Should I go watch it from the public gallery? Y/N?

you should watch it, but it wont happen if the CBO does not release the budget. I'll just put it this way, make sure you bring something to throw at the individuals who vote no....

It also won't happen if Pelosi does not have the votes, and it may well be, that she won't.

The CBO numbers are missing, because the CBO needs to show the reconciliation bill will cut the deficit by 2 billion dollars from the Senate Bill (that is the only way to trigger the reconciliation process in the Senate), and that is tough to do, when the reconciliation bill has a lot more new and exciting ways to spend money. So the Dems dump in the student loan bill that is supposed to save money  because the government can lend money cheaper (screw the default risk and the interest cost) and that does not appear as a cost due to the magic of CBO accounting, but it is not enough, so behind closed doors, the Dems are trying to find some additional ways to try to save money vis a vis the CBO's bizarre accounting rules. Maybe they will dump some more bills into the hopper. Stay tuned.

Have you ever tried watching anything important from the Gallery?  It's theoretically possible but odds are seriously against you getting in...there'll be dozens of reporters who will be fighting for those seats.  You'll have just as good view on C-SPAN anyway.  Save the Gallery watching for unimportant junk when the galleries are borderline empty.

Isn't it amazing how small the House Chamber is?  I've never been on the floor, but even from the Gallery it feels slightly claustrophobic down there.  The State of the Union must be more packed than the Tokyo Subway.

Have you ever watched PM question time?  The House of Commons is really tiny, and well, there are more members of Parliament than in the US House.

Plus, after waiting for a couple of hours to get a seat, or longer, you get to sit for about 15 minutes before being asked to leave, to make room for someone else. I sat in the gallery watching the House vote lowering the voting age to 18, which I strongly opposed. Odd for someone not yet 21 at the time I admit.
