The reason this is a losing issue for liberals is because of one word: "ILLEGAL".

I'm sorry. We have laws, don't we?

All right, then let's give them a path to being legal.

You mean like... https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process.html

I'm not actually opposed to legal, non-citizen status for law abiding illegal immigrants, but multiple deportees with felonies don't get that.

So, I have a question for anybody who knows the law *paging Mr. Reactionary*: If this woman had had the same rap sheet, but was a citizen, would the cops have arrested her if she had a warrant out for her arrest, but was making a call on a domestic abuse claim? If so, the law is kind of messed up regardless of how immigration plays into it.
Yes.
They didn't arrest this individual for reporting domestic abuse, they arrested the person after appearing in court asking for a TRO. If it was a different person doing the same thing with open warrants they would have arrested them upon leaving the court.

It really says something when your best hopes of winning elections are if they let felons vote. LOL

You guys are the ones who can't win unless you disenfranchise people left and right.  Criminal record?  Immigrant?  No money to afford ID?  Don't own land?  Live in the cities or in populous states that power the national economy?  No vote for you, says the GOP!

Conservatives are the masters of projection.  All this time, they have been the ones altering the electorate to suit their perverse needs.

If everybody voted, you guys would never stand a chance!

Unless they take the proper steps and become citizens, immigrants should not vote. What kind of loon are you to want non-citizens to choose our government?

Some municipalities let non-citizen permanent residents vote in local elections. It's not particularly controversial.

Only in Maryland, and yes it's still controversial
