My parents always told me they loved me, as did my grandparents. maybe it's just an American thing?
I never knew that parents in other countries didn't tell their kids they loved them as commonly as we do, though.

I have never heard a European parent say to their kid: "I love you." or "Luv u."

Please do not blindly apply Austrian customs to the rest of Europe.

OK. But is this thing common in Poland or not ? I guess not.
I know this is common in Singapore and Thailand, two countries I've visited.
