I have a problem with the accompanying misogyny. That's all. People like Opebo aren't f**king women... they're f**king objects... things worth their derision.
That's unhealthy no matter your opinion of prostitution.
No, that makes no sense - do you 'deride' your barber? Your computer repairman? I don't get how purchasing a service from someone is 'deriding' or 'objectifying' that person.
I can certainly tell you that in
my case I have many regulars that I know quite well, and am very fond of. Its quite interesting. I'll give you one example:
I have one very favorite regular I've known about 8-9 years, who I hadn't seen much lately, and we renewed our acquaintance very pleasantly a few weeks ago. She has since moved mostly out of the business and taken up her other vocation (seller of illegal drugs) in a more fully realized way. She showed me 50-75 missed calls on each of her two phones from her sleeping-time (during the day), and mentioned that she isn't particularly afraid of the cops anymore as she's now (finally) graduated to a proper mafia with good connections - she used to go to jail sometimes for a month or so when she was more 'on her own'.
She said she clears at least 2,000 baht/day after all kickbacks, bribes, and so forth are accounted for, but still likes to turn a trick with old favorite regulars now and again - what makes her enthusiasm for sex believable as the fact that she drove 15 minutes to meet me for a 500 baht payment, when she had thousands in her pocketbook (she showed me her bankroll and her little crystals).
The weirdest thing about the mongering scene is that its as much about the rebellion/freedom/fun of the
providers as it is of the customers, guys.
