I don't see why. These people have broken the law, so why should they benefit from the state's largesse?

If you were a paramedic, would you deny treatment to a stabbing victim solely because of they were in the country illegally?

I don't think anyone would do that, because A) you would lose your job, B) in many countries you would be charged with a crime and C) you don't ask a stabbing victim first if she/she is in the country illegally, but help first.
