Yay!  Thank you President Obama for protecting these poor people who just want to have some opportunity!  I can't wait to see the racists throw their usual hissy fit.  It's funny how the GOP likes to say racism is dead as they exploit it for votes.

But what if that protection comes at the cost of checks and balances?  Americans so frequently cheer unconstitutional laws and acts that they feel are "right" or "just".  The problem is that government overreaches aren't always "right" and "just", and people's opinions of what is "right" get skewed during times of crisis... look at Hamdi v. Rumsfeld.  These constitutional provisions exist for a reason, and while it may impede social changes that some feel are needed, they also provide protections for the people.

That made me lose quite a bit of respect for Obama.  If you're going to take action because you think it's the right thing to do, holding off until you're in the safe zone from political retribution is a pretty scummy way of doing it.  So what's the reason for immigration change?  He's lost any ability to effectively advocate for his position by pushing off past November.

Oh give me a break. Politicians do this all the time.

Sure, but it doesn't work with something like immigration.  Tell me: why is Obama's immigration reform necessary?

Because the House failed to act.

That's not what I asked.  I didn't ask why an executive order is necessary.  I asked why immigration reform itself is necessary.

Essentially, why do we need to change from the status quo?

There is a reason why no one outside of the people on the right by into the Obama is tyrant nonsense, the issue is an inept GOP controlled house whom have no intention of do anything productive.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's a "tyrant", but the numerous civil liberties violations that have been committed under his administration should concern all Americans.
