I told her to shut up after she was treating me like I was a poor Russian during the tyrannical reign of Joseph Stalin. We got into an argument regarding my Work Experience placement, which I later found out that I didn't get . Even if I told my Mum to take a chill pill she would go apesh**t.

hah, I probably say "shut up" to my mom 3x a day (and liberally use the word f***).  of course there was a time when I was not much younger than you when I couldn't have gotten away with it - so keep at it, brother.  don't give up.  start to move into profanity.  sitting on your hands here will do nothing but make you a slave to your mother for the rest of your adolescence.

I think the worst thing I've ever told my mom was "I think you've overcooked the chicken".
