Network

Best part:
Diana Christensen: Hi. I'm Diana Christensen, a racist lackey of the imperialist ruling circles.
Laureen Hobbs: I'm Laureen Hobbs, a badass commie n.
Diana Christensen: Sounds like the basis of a firm friendship.

Believe it or not, Reefer Madness.  Not standard Christmas Eve fare...and it was AWFUL.  Horrible.

Of course it was awful. That's what makes it so great.

Frost/Nixon.

This was an interesting one. Not a total hit piece on Nixon (Not that any sane would expect it to be, but many conservatives jumped to the conclusion it was). A lot more going on than you would expect. The only thing bugged me was the pseudo-documentary commentary from some of the characters like they were being interviewed by the news, yes its a docu-drama, but they're still actors just playing characters.

I agree with you. That was not needed.

The Wrestler

It could be the year's best. Amazing film.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

It really was pretty good. Too bad we probably won't be seeing Dawn Treader anytime soon.

There's barely anything worth seeing until then anyway. The only movie in the next couple months I want to see is The International. The rest is all Bride Wars and crap.

Watchmen is only two months away.

Graphic novel was too boring for me to bother reading too far into it so the movie doesn't interest me much.

Watching the itunes picture show version of it doesn't count.

I want to see Gran Torino.  And I may go see The Spirit with my friend.

Why would you go see The Spirit? By all accounts it's horrible.

Eva Mendez shows her ass in it.

Body double. Not worth $10.

Maybe not but it's cool for free. Also, I don't think it was a body double. She's showed it in movies before.

Gran Torino.

Film of the year, unless Wrestler is really, really, really good.

Oh, it is.

Also I saw the Watchmen trailer on the big screen finally last night before Gran Torino. So awesome.

I just read Watchmen yet again. I'm literally counting down the days. Less then two months now. Hopefully that FOX lawsuit won't screw up the release date. Evil must be punished. Hurm.

The Wrestler (2008)

Although I have only seen two films at the cinemas this year, the other one being arguably one of the worst films of 2009, The Day The Earth Stood Still, the latest film from Darren Aronofsky would easily be the best film I have seen for the year to date. It was BRILLIANT. Mickey Rourke, as I expected, was fantastic, as was Evan Rachel Wood. The only concern I had about the film was the casting of Marisa Tomei as Cassidy/Pam. Anyone could have played her role.

Dude, Tomei was good in the film. Plus, she still looks hot at age 43 or whatever.

Step Brothers

I finally watched the whole thing. It's very stupid and also pretty funny. What can I say...

Captivity

Eliza Cuthbert needs to fire her agent, if she hasn't already. I feel like my IQ just dropped 10 points.

Reservoir Dogs

My college was closed due to snow, so I'm basically just watching movies today. Some great scenes in here but the ending doesn't work for me. I feel like the story could have been expanded as well.

Naso, this isn't the first time I've seen it and I've seen Pulp Fiction, of course. I just felt like commenting on it. Jackie Brown is the only major film of his that I haven't seen in it's entirety. I'll check out True Romance at some point though. He didn't direct it but he wrote it.

I finally did what everyone is doing and saw Slumdog Millionaire.

I actually liked it a lot more than I expected to. Good film. I can live with this winning Best Picture, which it will. It wouldn't be my choice but I can live with it. The child actors were amazing.

Gran Torino

Great movie. One of the year's best. Some of acting was a little rough but it didn't matter. Walt certainly reminds me of my grandfather for a number of reasons. Just awesome.

The International.

It was great, a rare film with great action that was also clearly for intelligent and thinking adults. Unlike a certain other pile of garbage opening this weekend which based on the ticket line attracted one of the most annoying crowds I have ever seen...

You went to a midnight?
