I saw Life of Pi last night. Very good movie, but I think it's strange that it was only PG. Guess the MPAA is only interested in nudity and f-bombs when it gives ratings. I certainly wouldn't take a child to it. I wouldn't think twice about taking him to an R rated Adam Sandler fartfest though.

was it violent?  I've read about a third of the book so far.  I have trouble imagining how anyone could effectively bring that to the screen.

I watched that about six months ago.  I was in a period of watching Luis Buñuel movies, and I have to say that that one was the strangest of the bunch.  It was pretty funny, but I never could figure out who he was trying to make fun of.  (The military?  The church?  Politicians?)  I could discern no plot other than constant interruptions during an attempt to eat.  I suppose that was the whole point, what with dinner being the central ritual of the upper middle class.

A cat in Paris (original title is "Une Vie de Chat").  Borrowed it on DVD and watched it with the boy last night.  We got the dubbed-in-English version, and because it's animated it didn't have the weird asynchronous mouth effect that dubbing in another language usually produces.  Some violence.  My wife grumbled about it, but I thought it was okay.  I thought he was ready to be introduced to the concept of the anti-hero.  Well drawn.  I liked the dark aspect, although I'd probably recommend it for a slightly older audience.  Maybe 5th grade and higher.

The Dirty Dozen, Sunday night on TNT.  (Probably the 50th time I watched it.  Never gets old.)
