She's mentioned Edwards before, too. He's not a bad choice in any way except that he might be too anonymous to be a good one. Otherwise, he does  have experience in all the right areas, the personal charm, etc.

He's also got some social views that I find distasteful, but, given the district he represents (IIRC the most Republican district represented by a Democrat, and actually one of the most Republican nationwide), those might well not be his "real" positions.

Edit: Looked it up, TX-17 is R+18, marginally more Republican than Jim Matheson's UT-02 (R+17).

There was already a thread about this a couple weeks ago when Pelosi said the same thing.

Chet's not serious, I don't know what Pelosi is doing.  Maybe she lost a bet with him or owes him a favor.  She's just boosting his future political career by making his name more well known and respected.

Obama/Edwards would be really confusing and there's 100% no way that Obama could select any congressman since it would boost the "inexperience" charge that will hit harder in autumn.  People won't respect a congressman with a handful of terms on the flipside of an Obama ticket.

Edwards has been a Rep. since 1991, so "a handful of terms" wouldn't stick too well.
