Higher turnout would suggest that people who don't typically vote in primaries have gone out to the polls.

It could work the other way too - an unusually low turnout might be due to a lack of enthusiasm amongst "typical pro-establishment primary voters" who eventually decided to stay home,unlike the more active and enthusiastic "opposition" supporters.
