I hope Civil Unions and DP start to take hold, but I do not want the institution of marriage to ever be redefined by the government (or added to, in this case).  Next thing we'll do is start allowing polygamous marriage.  Separation of Church and State goes both ways.  People don't want the Church stepping on the state's toes, but the State has NO right to EVER step on the church's toes.  The BIBLE says marriage is between a man and a woman not between man and man or woman and woman.  Forgive me for being conservative about this, but I believe God's Word stands forever and cannot and will not be trampled on by the state.  God's Word (the Bible) is ultimately higher than any government document.  So, even if the constitution is amended or state laws or changed, God's Word will still supercede that and will ultimately prevail.

Even if the State sees gay couples as legally married.  God, who is the ultimate Authority, will never view them as legitimately married couples.

I don't mean to offend anybody, but I really don't care.  I'm just saying what the Bible says, whether it is offensive or not.  NOTE:  These are not Jeff's words, these are God's Words.

If they are God's words then God, quite frankly, is an idiot.

Liberals using The Full Faith and Credit Clause to force homosexual marriages upon other
states.    Digusting, and will make many people angry which isn't a good thing for gay rights.

Sodom & Gomorrah = The united states in 20 years.

Looking forward to it!

This is why we have to improve our education system.  Some people are still emerging out of it intensely self-unaware

You can't really teach that though.

Isn't it?

Why is yet another thread discussing whether it is okay to stick certain orifices within certain organs and whether or not that it is okay for the state to give a backing to such a relationship gone on for an exhausting 36 pages. Because of some trollish kid whose arguments is so circular and illogical they end up crashing into each other? Isn't the best strategy to ignore him, he's clearly full of guff and can't admit being wrong. Further proof this forum is addicted to this topic, its probably the orifice-organs element I mentioned above.

This thread is usually about the advancement of gay marriage across the country, rather than debating about whether the world's going to end.

sometimes a court jester or two shows up for a few pages, but the thread gets back to course once the entertainment is over

*Looks back over thread*

Ah yes, I see now. Okay fair enough thread.

Though there is *another* one on this very topic a bit back which goes on for 20 pages. The "Cheney Lied" thread so far has 2 posts; thanks to Kellar this one has expanded by a couple of pages in the time since the Cheney thread was posted. Organs-Orifices again.

Besides, this issue is the hot one in the culture wars right now.  Abortion's been largely static for close to two decades now, with little chance of any change, especially with Obama making the Supreme Court nominations.

That that is the case shows that the culture wars are over; the middle soft-liberal ground has won. This was not an issue on the table 20 years ago. (Actually it often seems to me that the Republicans were the ones trying to promote this as a national issue as to win votes in 2004; which shows that maybe Rove was a genius after all, he helped the gay marriage cause. But then again I didn't pay much attention to this issue in the states until 2004 so maybe wrong.)

Someone doesn't have to be born with schizophrenia to have it not be their choice to have it, for example.

Bad example; schizophrenia is one of the most heritable psychological conditions and also has some influence from prenatal situations: people born in April (IIRC... sometime in spring I believe) are significantly more likely to develop schizophrenia than the general population.  This seems to have something to do with the fact that people whose mothers had the flu during pregnancy also being more likely to develop schizophrenia, and those born in the spring were more likely to be in the womb during flu season!  So, there's lots of evidence pointing to it being highly probable that schizophrenics are essentially born with schizophrenia.

Anyway, moving along...

...Assuming that Schizophrenia is a condition that actually exists and isn't just a label attached to a variety of different problems.

Or assuming that Schizophrenia can be diagnoised in any quasi-scientific way (ha!).

But as you said, moving along...
