Exactly. Palin may not be very intelligent, but she's good at political maneuvering and seizing opportunities that present themselves. It's important that she consolidate her power and influence now, and throwing away a safe seat just to make a point is the ultimate display of her influence and willingness to "go all the way."

We should be very afraid of this woman.
