Well, I'll join this, I suppose. Hopefully we can turn it into a serious party.

Also, the name is incredibly bland and boring. Could we do something about that?

I don't know. Have we ever had a Labor Party here?

Do we really need a Chairman, General Secretary and Politburo? That would be 4-5 people in the party leadership, which is currently half the party. Also, is the General Secretary supposed to be a member of the Politburo? The bylaws aren't really clear about that.

I don't think that actually using the name "Politburo" would be an especially clever idea...
Yes, but it sounds cool.

I think it might be better, in our first election only a bit after we were founded, to just focus on running 1-3 candidates and getting at least one elected. It's probably not wise to bite off more than we can chew and fail our first test of political significance.

In an effort to stop appearing to be a stereotypical unorganized leftist party, let's start an official vote on the following party bylaws:

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

These are the current party members, according to the SoFA:
Andy Jackson
Cookies and Milk
cutie_15
EarlAW
Evilmexicandictator
LiberalPA
Lewis Trondheim
Lief
MaxQue
Realpolitik
Xahar

So, 11 members, 6 ayes votes in order to ratify the party bylaws. Please do remember that minor quibbles with the bylaws can be amended later; at the moment it's important that we lay down a foundation for the running of this party, so that we can move forward.

So we should probably elect ourselves some leaders now.

I urge all members of the SDP to write-in EarlAW/Al or vote NOTA. While I would normally be supporting the bgwah/Meeker ticket, an uncontested election is incredibly unhealthy for this nation's democracy.

I want to run for the Senate seat, and I hope that the SDP will give me its endorsement.

Looks too much like a country's flag and too little like a party's symbol, I think.

I'm strongly leaning towards running for Senate in the upcoming election, just to get that out there. I think we can definitely win two, perhaps three if things go perfectly, seats.

What is suspension? What does that entail?
