(Edited to remove a quote of a deleted post by Deus Naturae, but the response below was good enough to stand on its own. - TF)

These women, who make a living designing video games, have clearly never played video games! It makes total sense because they're women and women don't play video games! Duh! Video games are for boys. What whiny bitches these opinionated women are!

The initial thing that started this ("ethics in video game journalism") strikes me as ridiculous but feminist "game critics" are vapid and annoying and clearly don't actually play many of the games that they attack as "misogynist" so I don't really have any sympathy.

Okay this is a legitimate point.

Except that no, it's not a legitimate point. The assertion that these "vapid women" must not play videogames is itself a misogynist idea — a way to immediately dismiss their point of view based on a stereotype. The women who are the target of GamerGate attacks are routinely charged with being "fake gamer girls" who merely pretend to like games for attention from men. Never mind the fact that these are established game designers who work in the industry.

I was trying to respond to one of Deus's posts, but I accidentally wound up modifying it instead  because I pressed the wrong button.

Unfortunately, I deleted much of the original post in the reply. It didn't make much sense to do anything else but scrap the whole thing. I sent Deus a PM with the portions I was attempting to quote, in case he'd like to resubmit his post.

My apologies.
