Why does everyone hate Jesse Jackson?

People always seem to group Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson together, but while Sharpton is clearly a vile being, I don't see what Jackson has done that's made him so toxic. In the 1988 primaries he was doing decently with white voters, many at the time said they didn't back him because they were afraid he would lose the general election, not because he was into black identity politics or such. I haven't found much about his history after that, certainly no large controversies.

His political career, including his time as civil rights leader, is somewhat positive. His personal life is more negative.
I don't think that him saying "Himeytown" erases everything good he's done imo. It was not a good thing to say, sure, but we need to look at the whole picture if we are to assess him and his legacy all-around.
As a whole, I'm divided about the man. I wouldn't call him a full-blown FF by any measure.
I like Al Sharpton more than him.

What people tend to forget when discussing his 1988 campaign was he wasn't seen anywhere near as negatively then as he is now.
