Here's hoping McCain pulls it out.  I think he could win without this state, but it would be icing on the cake if he was able to claim it.

It's shaping up to be a good night on my side. "Knocks wood."

I do hope if McCain wins tonight he gives a better speech. No reading from notes this time John, please.

Well, if McCain does win tonight, you are probably looking at the next president of the united states, especially if hillary is the democratic nominee. the republican race is over.

I'm getting more worried about Romney. He's won three states and done no worse then second in any primary and looks to be getting a third place showing in SC tonight. Romney's still in this, though if McCain can win here and Florida he should have a pretty smooth go of it the rest of the way.

And which state in the South or NE (except maybe Mass. if you believe SUSA) will Romney win?

Good point.  I'm saying I'm worried about Romney, but I still believe McCain will pull it out. But if the race gets to be just between the two of them I'm worried you'd see many conservatives go to Romney and he'd be able to snatch the nom from McCain. But your right, Romney's not really strong in places like NY or the south, though I believe he could win California, where McCain currently leads.

Oh yes, America is going to elect a doddering senior who reads his speeches and almost puts you to sleep while he's reading, and who supports an unpopular war, as President of the United States.

Doesn’t Romney also support the war? How can he hope to win either?

Yeah, I did not think he would, but this now sounds like a concession speech to me.

He can still drop out tommorow. Maybe he wants to wait and see if he can manage a third place showing tonight.

I wish i had US tv so i could watch along!

clicking refresh every few minutes just isn't as exciting

http://www.cnn.com/

That does not have the live tv feed, but they have a feed from McCain headquarters, so you can watch his speech at least if you want.

McCain's leading by 10000 votes. I think[and hope] he's got this in the bag.

It does look like it.

I'd love if McCain won here though. Hannity and Rush and all of the conservative commentators really dislike McCain and question if he can win the base, so I’ll be glad to see their ego’s suffer a huge blow tonight.

It's worth noting that every Republican nominee since Ford has been someone who won either the Iowa or the New Hampshire elections. That does put McCain in the running, but it also means his one opponent is Huckabee - which frankly poses more of a challenge than does Romney.

Every Republican nominee has also won the South Carolina primary, so its looking pretty good for McCain.

Not a bad speech by McCain tonight. He's my second choice, far behind Rudy. I still don't understand how pundits can say Giuliani still has a chance in Florida. He was tied with McCain today and McCain hasn't even begun campaigning there. I expect him to finish fourth. It's over for the GOP.

You don't believe McCain can win the general?
