Is Hillary using gun control to get to the left of Bernie?

Today Hillary spoke out strongly for gun control.

At first one may see this as just part of her trend to show her progressive side (like she has done recently with SSM, voting rights, immigration reform, etc). But with gun control, there may be an additional agenda.

Sanders actually voted against the Brady Bill and he was elected to Congress with the help of the NRA who ran ads against his opponent for supporting Gun Control. And there is one vote that Sanders is going to have trouble explaining.

Bernie was one of only 15 Dems who voted for this (joining 49 Republicans). For the record, Hillary voted against it.

Could Hillary use the gun issue against Sanders the way Romney used immigration against Perry?
