So long as the Lizard person had a "D" next to their name, they will end up defeating Mark Kirk in 2016.

No, you're thinking of Illinois, not New Illinois. The Senators from New Illinois are Mark Mark Mark Mark (W) and a flash of ball lightning (Ö).

Moo moo moo? Are you thinking of 202016 or 20201616?

Senators Mark Mark Mark Mark and flash of ball lightning are far to entrenched to be unseated in 2016.    The governor's race might be vulnerable as Lord Sauron is dealing with corruption charges.

However, he might be able to be reelected as there is a vicious primary battle between The Dark Lord of the Twin Moons and Gadnuk, Breaker of Worlds.

Lizard people only make up 4% of the population in New Illinois, I'm not sure if they're ready for it yet.

But they are in solidarity with other minorities such as Vampires, Reticulans, Zombies and Wereweasels. I am sure a skillful Lizard Person can win with a really high turnout amongst them.

That's true, but last election many vampires were effectively denied from voting because many polling places are churches and the vampires can't stand crucifixes.

I could see how the Social Conservative movement has trouble reaching out to them in their current incarnation despite the fact many vampires may otherwise be opened to their ideas.

Well, were corny like that. It isn't funny, but it was worth a vain rescue of the schtick.
