He may just be the Yankee reversal of the Dixiecrat. I, on the other hand have considered "leaning republican", but I have been a strong democrat since I was 18, though I registered as a libertarian for a year because I was angry that there was no formidible democratic party. I do not believe that ideology is the answer on economic issues (I am pretty close to zero there), and have waffled from 3 to -3 there. But I have always been below -5 on social issues though I do go to church when I can (I really don't think I should have been in a condition to say that, btw). I have, however was strongly against gay rights until I was 18 and was reconsidering my stance on abortion then as well but I stopped reconsidering when I figured that there were no real alternatives in many situations and that personhood before viability was simply bizzare and counterproductive to societal advancements.
